Started watching something called "Taboo" last night on BBC First. Stars Tom Hardy and it appears to be twisted as fuck.

@MiketheSnow I saw Ozark pop up the other day and thought it sounded good, so added to my watch list.

Update: Watched first episode and this looks like it could be excellent.

When is the second season of Stranger things out?

FTWD just gets crapper and crapper with each passing episode which is really shit as it actually started better than TWD. The decline is startling. Anyone else agree?

I'm also enjoying Orange is the New Black. Surprisingly good entertainment.

    @MN5 Stranger Things about sept/Oct I think.

Yea I'll see FTWD through to end of this season (as I think it's on a break for a month or so?) and if no improvement or sign of originality I'll be bailing.

    It'll be worth the wait.

First season of FTWD was superb but pretty much anyone vaguely interesting was killed off. The Mexican setting sounded cool in theory but the last couple of episodes have put me and the Mrs to sleep, literally!

TWD on the other hand is teeming with interesting/quirky/terrifying characters.

Top of the Lake 2 - Have only watched the first ep (although the whole series was made available immediately on BBC iPlayer)
Story looks to be good but fuck the accents are all over the place. I thought Elisabeth Moss did quite well in the first series disguising her US accent with a mid- Ta$man one but this time she sounds completely mangled and drifts between an American twang and something non-committal. Considering that it is fairly easy to sound slightly NZ/Oz for a female by putting an inflection at the end of a sentence it is sloppy.
Jane Campion's own daughter has a part and sounds even more American at times than Moss.
Nicole Kidman even seems to have trouble at times going back to her native nasal twang and I wonder if the problem is that they are all parroting each other. It just sounds really weird to the antipodean ear.

    Great start. Weird as.

Feels very dated too, like the UK of my youth - late 70s through to mid eighties. Might just be the hairdos

Finished Ozark. Very interested in seeing what they can accomplish with another season.

Slowly going through GLOW, but I feel Brie isn't going to replicate the first episode and I'm hoping Liberty Belle does.

Binged through Friends from College. Genuinely funny. Well written.

Anyone else hooked on these goddamn US reality tv car/recycled shop shows?

Not me. Can't stand them. Sick of shows that cram five minutes of content into a half hour show. Or have some annoying accent constantly explain the simplest concept like I'm a drooling imbecile.

    @Rocky-Rockbottom
I used to be obsessed with Storage Wars (the one where they auction off the contents of unpaid storage units and they bullshit about the cash they make). I think there are about 10 of those now (Canada, Texas, NY, etc etc.). I've reached peak SW now though and the show just pisses me off.

I was also big into Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn (rough as guts one from Detroit).

I've gradually weaned myself off, but if I'm channel surfing and PS comes up I end up watching. You're right about the people. The son makes me sick and Chumlee is one of the luckiest fuckers in the universe. Mate gets repulsive loser friend job in granddad's shop which freakishly makes him a mega rich celebrity who probably smashes Vegas models like he used to smash Macdonalds. Ridiculous.

But Rick and co are beautiful people compared with the Golds in Hardcore Pawn. Those fuckers are straight out disgusting humans. All that talk about helping people out during hard times. More like feeding on poverty and misery. I remember some poor dude coming in with a rare card collection he needed to sell to fund an operation. Spoilt uber-tosser son Seth couldn't believe his luck.

Shit, good thing I stopped watching it.

oh this. Those motherfuckers are getting rich off meth addiction. Vile motherfuckers.

good on ya Rocky, we all need our vices, and reality TV isn't the worst one. Hell, i love a cooking show, so i can't sneer at a man who likes watching ones about cars and shit.

@Rocky-Rockbottom used to watch most of those but kind of got over them one after the other, still watch Wayne Carini on chasing classic cars. Richard Rawlings is the uber douche.

I watch dirt the guys on the motor trend channel on youtube now, those guys are pretty funny and their road trip are usually a disaster. There was one where the roadkill guys went out to this bar in the desert and had to sell the jeep they took out there and then spend all the money they made on alcohol and drink it before they left.

Oh and storage wars, its scripted as hell but has hall of fame milf Brandi Passante

Binge watched both series of 'No Activity'. Loved it.

No Activity (TV Series 2015–2018) ⭐ 7.7 | Comedy, Crime

No Activity (TV Series 2015–2018) ⭐ 7.7 | Comedy, Crime

    23m

Cheers. Good heads up. This one would have gone completely unnoticed by me otherwise.

Also realised that since leaving Godzone I missed an entire season of Westside (with a third already underway). Hardly must watch TV, but the kiwiana aspect to someone on the other side of the world is gold. Love the effort put in to the props. Must have taken a bit of doing to track down all the cars and make them look 10 years old rather than 40 (when they had probably been restored to new). Ted West drives a red Sandman! Classic.

Loved first series of Westside. Cheers.

Bit weird seeing Wolf change mid-series though.
