Johnson can be great, but he is more Robin than Batman. We'll never know now Foran is leaving but when they played together he seemed to look very good in a way he hasn't consistently since James Maloney left

Johnson reminds me a lot of Benji Marshall and Carlos Spencer, and the poor man's Spencer, Quade Cooper. They can all do wonderful things on the footy field and instead of letting them be themselves we seem to want to turn them into something they are not - structured players who can control a game. I reckon it then leads to an identity crisis. They then start second guessing themselves. We need to accept them for the players they are and encourage them to do what they do best.

Marshall was at his best when he had a Prince type player around him, one that can do all the controlling and allowing him to play what he sees. They then tried to turn Marshall into the controlling type player. His confidence suffered and not only did he end up not being able to 'run' a game he lost the ability to do the things that made him such a talent in the first place.

Johnson is the same and it is a shame, as canfan said above, that we won't get to see him build a playing relationship with Foran. If Johnson and the Warriors aren't careful he will fizzle out like Marshall.

James Maloney is available to sign in the offseason but more likely he stays in Sydney. Trent Hodkinson would be a decent pick up and could play the 'game manager' to Shaun Johnson's adlib style which the Warriors attack desperately needs.
One cheap target could be former Roosters halfback Jackson Hastings, who can't get into the Manly line up right now. He played well for Sydney City (before pissing off Mitchell Pearce which makes me like him more).

Listening to the press conference it sounds like Kearney is going to be pushing a lot of players out of the door. Hope he follows through.

Most teams have 25 NRL contracts (and a bunch of NSW/QLD Cup contracts) so:

              You can stay:
Simon Mannering, Shaun Johnson, James Gavet, Roger Tuivasa Sheck

              You can probably stay:
Blake Ayshford, David Fusitua, Ken Maumalo, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Nathan Roache, Sam Lisone

              You can probably bugger off:
Bunty Afoa, Ryan Hoffman, Jacob Lillyman, Ata Hingano, Ligi Sao

You can fuck off right now:
Isaac Luke, Solomona Kata, Albert Vete, Charlie Gubb, Bodene Thompson, Mason Lino

Already fucked off to another club:
Erin Clark (Canberra Raiders), Bureta Faraimo (Hull FC), Kieran Foran (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs), Tuimoala Lolohea (Wests Tigers), Ben Matulino (Wests Tigers), Toafofoa Sipley (Manly Sea Eagles), Manu Vatuvei (Salford Red Devils).

So looking at that we really only have 10 players on NRL contracts who should stay and are adding two players in 2018 in Tohu Harris and Leivaha Pulu. With 11 teams currently reported to be over the cap for 2018, the Warriors can still add up to 10 players (if they offload a bunch of guys in the process).

You don't rate Hingano sneak? I haven't seen enough of him to form my own opinion, but from what I have read a few see him as good prospect.

@Crazy-Horse I think he has potential to be a good halves player, or even play at hooker, but the Warriors have struggled with developing halves players beyond Stacey Jones and Shaun Johnson and I feel Hingano could go the way of Lolohea, Tuimavave etc etc etc.

I hope that Warriors are brave enough to exit mass numbers. Something needs to give and unless a clear message is sent we'll just get more of the same. Had no idea that many clubs were in cap crisis - should be some good options on the table then.

I hope we hold on to our young halves but get in an experienced player to do the driving - so we can get something out of SJ in the next year or so. Rather than waiting for a new player to develop, by which stage SJ will be on his downward slide.

Soooo much was made of having this amazing spine, that we totally overlooked the fact you need forwards to get any opportunities! oh, and that defense is also kind of important.

At the moment I'd take 9 Mannerings, with Gavet, SJ, RTS and Fusitua to round out my 13!

Knights spank the scrubs known as Parramatta 29-10 in their 2001 Grandfinal rematch at Aussie Stadium.
Newcastle won't be finishing last next season - some serious young talent there including Kiwi hooker Danny Levi.

Jaysus, the Cowboys are losing key players left, right and centre. Leading the Panthers 10-6 and now Michael Morgan just got knocked out and is undergoing a concussion test. Justin O'Neill is also out of the game with a broken/dislocated arm.

Looks like Eric Watson is selling the club to Jim Doyle and player-agent Peter Brown.

@Sneakdefreak Jim Doyle in full control. That would be a good thing wouldn't it?

                                          Nothing to lose either!

Wonder if Jim is keen to make some big changes but Watson has been reluctant?

We just need someone to sack up and revamp the roster in a big way.
