The 100 year old man who climbed out of his window and disappeared.

Terrific story about this geezers adventure after escaping a retirement home with flashbacks to his extraordinary life. Kind of reminds me a little like a dark comedy swedish Forrest Gump.

8 shots of hard liquor (not a kids drink) outta 10 explosions

Haven't read that yet, but did read another book written by the same guy:
Hitman Anders and the Meaning of It All. Rather good.

@Kruse My sister had just finished the book and suggested I watch it. Said it was a great read, a few variations from the movie.

Goon was a lot of fun. I have soft spots for Seann William Scott and Michael Dowse (FUBAR is one of my favourite movies), and they delivered.

The movie was almost ruined early on by Jay Baruchel's shitty side-kick character. Also, the credits music was genuinely terrible. On the other hand, great to see a soundtrack credit for Night Seeker.

I think Baruchel was the writer so might have been hard to dispense with.

Stone Cold is the undercover in the bikies one? Hahaha, classic video era movie.

Yeah, he directed the sequel too.

Has anyone seen it? It's on streaming services and torrents apparently.

I thought you were talking about this , there were a lot of low budget Aussie films like this around the time Razorback was another.

I watched this for the first time last week... and yeah, pretty good.
AVclub.com is doing a series of "best action movie of each year", and Stone Cold got a very honorable mention - leading me to track it down.

Those are great, I've been reading them too.

The last half hour of Stone Cold is amazing. Those fuckers didn't have to kill the hot babe though!

Saw "Terminator 2" in 3D at the cinema last night

A beautiful story about self responsibility, empowerment and the value of a strong father figure in a child's life.

We learn the importance of respecting peoples beliefs even if we disagree with them and that above all else a persons inherent value comes not from the colour of their skin (or indeed whether they have internal organs) but rather, by the content of their character. Also...Blue lives matter.

    Certainly a movie from a by-gone era

    The Happening (2008)

One of the stupidest pieces of shit I’ve ever sat through. My RT guess was 18%, I think it was about 23%. Too bad I’ma sucker foir global pandemic shit and will sit thru any of the fucken things. In this one Marky Mark and his New Funky Bunch are on the run from a killer virus that is somehow The Wind. Somehow, The Wind turns people into sentient statues and then, seconds later, into catatonic suicidal maniacs. The Wind. GTFO. “Quick, run, run, it’s the wind.” The wind is everywhere you stupid fluffybunnies, you can’t outrun it. It’s just moving fucken air. “OOOH, OOOH, I can’t let The Wind touch me, it might turn me into a suicidal zombie.”

I barely know shit from shinola when it comes to films and acting but when you l0ll out loud at the comically shit rendering of the Serious Parts, someone(s doing something wrong.

I’m no film noir auteur but the look of this was just flatout wrong. Dunno if its cinematography of lighting or what but when a know-nothing klutz like me thinks, during the movie, someone should be fired for how 2-D vanilla carob on steaming shit corncob this looks then that’s an epic fuckup

    Super 8

Watched this straight after, um, I think this is what a film is supposed to look like. So what if it was Stranger Things dryhumping ET in the Stand By Me bukkake queue. It worked.

Super 8 is a great movie, not perfect but enjoyable all the same. Takes you back to the classic Speilberg made/inspired movies of the 80's

More proof that Hollywood has run out of original ideas. I was just reading that a sequel to Flatliners is about to be released. I remember seeing this in 1990 and I doubt anyone has been waiting for a sequel in the last 27 years.

I just went to an arthouse cinema and saw a new French film called DJANGO about Django Reinhardt. It's not a bio-pic as I'd thought it's instead a story about his year in Vichy France during the war and being ordered to tour Nazi Germany but he bailed-out and tried to escape to Switzerland. Surprisingly suspenseful. I dunno if it's all true but the bloke playing him was convincing and the soundtrack was amazing.
