I don't mind coaches being passionate. As someone else mentioned Meyer was entertaining to watch. Difference with Cheika is that he doesn't get excited at the good things his team are doing or get upset when they make a mistake. His 'passion' is solely directed at the on field decision making and that makes him look like a football manager or basketball coach. I'd like to think rugby is better than that.

I'd like to see if that holds true for the whole game. Let's remember that the OB director is solely responsible for what we get to see of Cheika in the box.

Nah, he celebrates - just hasn't had a great deal to celebrate against us. And he was going off his head at Foley missing kicks too.

I think his antics re decision making are way over the top and strongly dislike them.
Hansen takes it a bit too far into dead fish territory, often hard to tell if he's even awake -but I much prefer that approach to histrionics.

          Great piece of analysis!

Have to say that, on reflection, I expect it was a rehearsed Lions tactic to disrupt such restarts. I imagine their homework had identified just how dangerous ABs are from such plays.

Well, he is an Aussie after all!

My gripe is more that it's not helpful for his team's chances. Better would be something like, 'Disappointed because I thought we did enough to win. But very proud of the team. It's a young bunch of men and if we keep playing like that the wins will come'.

@kiwiinmelb If you go to their facebook page, you will find a much longer version as they also have an aftershow where they will answer questions posed to them on facebook.

I agree, they are fantastic. I also enjoy the Rugby Report Card podcast which is now available on Green and Gold. Lots of swearing but they present a fair and unbiased analysis.

I love the iso-cam in the Wallabies coaches box. But boy, what a difference five years makes. In contrast to Cheike's "passion" Robbie Deans was practically catatonic.

                      @jegga bit of a non-story really.

I was leaping all over the show moments earlier when we had scored, which seemed premature when Beale crossed!

Bit over the top reactions to this game it seems ...

However, it does appear that Read must have congratulated / acknowledged the Aussies in the post-match speech ... not read that one yet.

For Gregan and Eales especially it is a little bit of balancing. Both involved in last minute acts that won games for the Convicts. Mitchell has surely been in teams that have been on the other end as well.
No problem with them celebrating Beales try, they would be pretty boring fuckers if they didn't. It is quite sweet to watch the reactions moments later though.

Yeah, I enjoy that show. They might actually be venturing into biased territory against Cheika though. They've been baying for his blood since last year. In the early days he appeared on the show a few times so I assume it's not personal.

Article by Stuart Barnes in today's Times notes that Aaron Smith didn't kick once in Aussie tests. I had missed that.

Reminds me of pool games against minnows in last RWC. The wise men are upping the pressure to make Rugby Championship better preparation for Japan.
