Ordinarily not a fan of Noomi, but seen her in that and Unlocked and she looked much better.

Watched the latest Planet of the Apes movie, was ok but not as good as it's predecessors (Rise and Dawn, not that other one) also a bit long at 140 mins.
2.75 talking chimps out of 5 signing apes.

@nta was just about to post - saw it at weekend.
Its OK but can understand why it has had (in NZ anyway) so many poor reviews.
It's pretty much a dialed in performance from everyone from the scriptwriters on.
Same basic plot similar jokes. The Bond piss taking that was clever the first time doesn't seem so original when it's repeated for the 30th time.
Hope they don't make a 3rd one or it will become what it originally set out to lampoon

@taniwharugby I actually really enjoyed it. It was fun. When I read some reviews of it after I'd seen it I was actually wondering if they saw the same movie as I did. A friend of mine who came didn't realise it was a sequel and she loved it.
@Kirwan Yeah, Elton John was great, I also read complaints that his cameo was too long, but I thought it was just right ... actually it was more than a cameo, it was an actual role in the film.
Some of the new characters (big name actors) were underserved, but they were only contracted for short stints and they'll play bigger roles in their own film if that happens.
7.5 Robotic Dogs not killing 10 Elton Johns.

The rumour is the director is in line for new Superman sequel, would love to see what he does with that.
Yeah, it was never going to be as good as the first, which was fresh with a fish out of water story but I enjoyed the sequel for what it was.
I'd be surprised if Mathew Vaughn directed a Superman movie even though he's been talking about it in interviews, I've listened to him on a few podcasts and he really doesn't seem like he wants to work in Studio films again - but I'd like to see if he could make a decent Superman movie though.

Watched American Made.
A fun movie that doesn't delve deeply into any aspect of the possibilities in the script. Think a combination of Blow and Air America and something else that escapes me right now.
