No love for Boardwalk Empire S03? Nucky gets nasty and a new bad ass is in town.

Downton Abbey S03 another good watch and if you like DA then Parades End would be worth a look.

Yeah just just started on that this week, gotta love some of the dialogue and indignation at some of the situations, hilarious!

Finished S3 of BSG, great series, just the right amount of chessiness, and had a looksie at ep 1 of Strike Back too, looks like my cup of tea.

I think me and Mrs Mariner are the only 2 people in Australia watching "Strike Back", it's already been bumped to the 11.30pm slot. Fuckers.

3 episodes in and Season 2 of "Homeland" is ticking along nicely. I was wondering how they were going to drag out a second season, but its pretty good.

Still liking "Vegas" as well. It's a pretty simple premis, but it's entertaining TV.

Certainly a lot of death in SOA this season although am wondering if the one we think from the end of the last ep will happen due to what he knows.

Walking Dead started on tv here last night at the prime time of 2230! WTF! It is only what 4 weeks behind yet they slot it in that time slot? I hadn't intended watching it on tv with ads....any who, picked up where it left off, pretty good.

Season 3 of The Walking Dead has been awesome. Easily better than season 2.

Shit no, having Clay skulking around plotting Jax's downfall is what is driving the story at the moment. You can now see why the obvious kill off didn't happen.

Ok, my bad assumption, I wont read your spoiler yet as I was busy last night and am yet to watch the latest ep.

I have the first of Elementary to watch but haven't as yet. I liked the UK recent series so much I'm hoping that the US one in the same vein doesn't ruin things for me. Will approach with trepidation.

A Series I have been slowing chipping away at is Alphas Series 2. Series 1 showed enough promise to see where they are going with things and I nust say the quality has improved. Any series like this will have a lot of holes and credibility issues but if you suspend them and go along for the ride it's not a bad watch. Gary, the austistic guy, is really quite good and the writers serve him well. There are some subtle funny moments that come from him. Having a scene where the two hot chicks in the cast have a pash was a nice touch as well.

Person of Interest S2 is now 5 episodes in so must do a catch up on that to see if it is still chugging along OK.

Caught a bit of "Revolution" on Fox last night. Looks interesting and I might download it to the tablet for a look once a few more eps are out. I just don't do TV watching any more. Too busy!

After trying to get to sleep while the wife was watching "Glee" and several shitty Australian "dramas"* in our room, I have told her I'm going to give her GoT S1 & 2 for her iPad so that she can see some decent writing with her headphones on!

Thank goodness she likes Modern Family or I'd be considering throwing the TiVo out the window.

• there is a complete abortion of a show on here called "Winners & Losers". Premise was about four friends (all chicks) who win lotto and the fucking stupid decisions that ensue. The writers are completely out of touch with reality and I fail to see why they haven't re-titled it "Losers" before it crashes and burns in a huge pile of shit before the next shitty season shits up my screen.
Arrow. Entertaining and I'm glad they made it into a TV show rather than a movie.
Think Dark Knight meets Revenge( the trashy TV Soap).
Green Arrow was always one of my favourites as a kid. This is a fun take on it.

Looks like I might have to get Arrow (TV2 is screening it in the New Year...)

SOA - bit of a weak episode IMO, predictable and filling time.

Walking Dead is good, while I have the eps ahead of NZ, I've watched it on TV the first 2 weeks, which I will probably end up doing.

S2 of Strike Back is a bit formulaic, still good viewing, but not as good as S1 IMO.

Anyone been watching Dexter, I have that locked and loaded, but want to get through some other stuff first.

Don't expect Arrow to be anything cerebral and you should be happy. It's a comic book with reasonable production values. The usual rules to dual-identity apply i.e wear glasses, a hood or a little mask and even your closest friend/lover won't recognise you.

I think I may have plugged it in this thread before, but I have just finished watching the latest season of Hard Knocks. It is quite simply the best 'behind the scenes' sports show I have ever seen.

Every season they go into an NFL pre-season training camp (they have done 5 seasons so far- season 5 was the Miami Dolphins) and you see pretty much everything- players and coaches are all miked up at all times, team meetings, coaching discussions, trial games, and at the end of camp seeing the unlucky players get cut from the squad. They focus mainly on the guys who are battling to make the team. It's compelling.

Plus the camerawork is brilliant and the production values very high. I'm not a huge NFL fan but I can't get enough of it.

Right up there with the ESPN 30for30 docos as the best sports vision going around. Anywhere.

Seven seasons of Hard Knocks. Eight if you count the NFL Network version called Jaguar Summer from 2004. If you like Hard Knocks, check out the hockey version HBO does called 24/& Road to the Winter Classic. Four episode show by the same HBO team who do Hard Knocks on the two NHL teams in the New Years day out door hockey game. Caps vs Penguins in 2010 and Flyers vs Rangers in 2011. Cancelled this year, due to the NHL lockout.

Rusty - you're still around - I feared I'd have to try and figure out for myself what TV is good <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />. So what new shows do you reckon are worthwhile watching this year?
