@no-quarter Really enjoyed S1, had heard too many negative comments form people that like similar TV stuff to me, so didn't bother with S2.

Started Vikings, some batshit crazy mofos about this season!

So far think it is ticking along well without Ragnar.

Yeah, it's been an interesting start to the latest series. Everyone is going a bit crazy. Not sure if I'm that happy with Ivar being the main focus, his rambling on gets a bit tiresome after a while. Although, Uber seems to be looking and acting more like Ragnar these days.

Old what's his name, the want to be King of all Norway is getting a bit Neagan like (which IIRC you don't mind, but for me it's gun to the temple).

Always good to see Lagertha and be reminded just how hot she is.

Re: Mr Robot, I thought the 1st season was overrated so good to know I'm not missing out.

@nepia I had a look on the reliable Wiki and I think Ivor & Bjorn are the sons that go one to make names for themselves.

But yeah, Lagertha still hot, was an interesting scene in ep2, according to her Twitter, that was her idea.

I guess the showrunners can choose whoever they like to focus on because all of them have wider sagas than what we see on Vikings. Sigurd's story is already different from the sagas.

TBH, this is as historical as those alien shows the History Channel have on - they should just re-brand as THS.

@nepia there are some things which are supposedly historically accurate (how Ragnar bought it, who Rollo becomes as a couple I can recall)

But like all these things, gotta have plenty of licence to keep people entertained!

Oh yeah, but lots changed even from the agreed upon sagas, but very entertaining.

@mn5 you could have TWD on both lists too!

Outlander was pretty ave in S2, but S3 has been better.

I hate how some shows like to have sulky teenagers in them, what is the point? Fark, write their sulky emo arses out of the story, I don't want to watch that shit!

Excellent point. As I said on the other thread there was one episode that was nothing but shooting and I had no idea who was on who's side.

FTWD had a much better start than TWD but has faded badly.

I think I like Outlander purely because I thought I would hate it but the mrs made me persevere.

    WTF? 🙂

Vikings is great, Walking Dead used to be and is now my most hatiest show, and I watched a season of Outlander which was ok, but I haven't been drawn back to it since.

    Shows I've enjoyed this year:
Travelers (best switch your brain off tv), The Deuce (best seedy 70s tv), Master of None 1&2 (S2 best tv), The Handmaid's Tale (best new show), Halt and Catch Fire (best show that's finished), The Americans (best underrated tv), Mindhunter (best suprisingly good tv) , Godless (best show with an average finale), The Good Place (best quirky comedy) and the sitcoms I always like to watch B99, The Goldbergs, and Fresh of the Boat.

Re-watch I really enjoyed this year: Band of Brothers (best mini series tv)
Re-watch that confirmed my original thoughts: The Pacific (best disappointing mini series tv)

@nepia Outlander is great to watch with your Missus...

Travelers (best switch your brain off tv), The Deuce (best seedy 70s tv), Master of None 1&2 (S2 best tv), Halt and Catch Fire (best show that's finished), B99, The Goldbergs, and Fresh of the Boat- not seen any of these

The Handmaid's Tale (best new show), - yep, was compelling watching.
The Americans (best underrated tv), - consistently good
Mindhunter (best suprisingly good tv) - yes
Godless (best show with an average finale) - was it ever gonna end much different though?
The Good Place (best quirky comedy) - seen S1, not yet started S2

Agreed with some of those @Nepia , especially those bolded.

Recently, the better half and I binged on:

Season 1 and 2 of "Stranger Things". Season 1 much better than season 2 in the wife's opinion, whilst I enjoyed season 2 more than her. Still looking forward to S3 which looks to be some time in 2020.

and The Good Place. Really a good quirky comedy. Short episodes and very easy watching with the exception of the odd annoying character.

Best quirky comedy of the year for us was:
Santa Clarita Diet. Wasn't expecting much but really, really enjoyed it.

Craziest comedy plus best animated TV Show: Can't go past "Big Mouth" ... how to describe it?

Glued to my seat drama: Still and reigning champ in our household, Game of Thrones (but this was a frustrating series)

Honourable mention: Punisher (very violent and the wife couldn't stand it), Sherlock, Taboo, Mind Hunter, West World (probably No. 2) and the wife loved The Handmaids Tale and Outlander which I only just glanced at.

Sci-Fi: still enjoying Killjoys and Dark Matter and just getting back into The 100. Favourite for the year was a clear winner: Star Trek Discovery (in spite of the flaws)

Gave up on: The Walking Dead, Legion (3 eps and out for me), Doctor Who (just cannot stand Peter Cipaldi as The Doctor but will give the hot new chick the benefit of the doubt), Into the Badlands (enjoyed S1 but S2 just didn't grab us), Ironfist and Mr Robot.

Handmaids Tale and Stranger Things. Two glaring omissions from the good shows list. The former was a massive surprise but compelling viewing.

@Nepia I think Vikings sux, boring characters with stupid haircuts none of whom I give two fucks about. Take all that's awesome about GOT, remove it and then you have Vikings.

I wanted to enjoy the Deuce, they nailed the time period brilliantly and Franco was great as the twins but nothing actually haopened for half a season so I gave up. Maggie Gyllenhaal could do with a breast lift too.

You can probably give The Deuce a pass - made by the same guys who did The Wire - although it is the best watched of all their shows so you might like it.

Travelers is a sci fi show from Canada/Netflix. Easy watching, with a hot blonde chick. It's really not a deep show though, although it's getting increasingly twisty in the plot as sci fi shows often do.

Master of None is Aziz Ansari's show, no set structure, I thought S2 was brilliant.

Halt and Catch Fire is about computers starting from the 80s. It's really good although some don't like S1.

Brooklyn Nine Nine is the funniest sitcom on TV at the moment in my opinion, The Goldbergs is fun because it's 80s set with lots of references for us 80s kids.

Godless: Yeah, it was always going to end like that but I think they could have done a better version.

    @RoninWC
I forgot West World, another good show. So much TV these days!

Santa Clarita Diet is the Timothy Olyphant one right? I might give it a watch.

No one character annoys me on The Good Place, all of them annoy me at different times, but I think that's the point.

I haven't watched any of those sci fi shows you mention and to be completely honest have only watched the first Sherlock and didn't find it that great so have never returned.

@MN5 Hahaha, fair enough, each to their own. I think I get less annoyed with Vikings than GOT on an episode by episode basis.

I liked how The Duece was just moved along at it's own pace, I must like that kind of stuff - I was annoyed when the season ended though.

I've just started "I'm dying up here" which is a show set in the 1970s about comedians. First episode was pretty good.

Yeah, you like what you like and don't like what you don't like. Although, my brain still can't properly process the fact that TR doesn't like The Wire. 😉

The only bits of Vikings I don't like is when they get too close to the fantasy of GoT. And I'd love to see a non fantasy version of GoT. I'm just not a fantasy fan.

@nepia Santa Clarita Diet isnt to everyones taste (no pun intended)

Some of the scenes are like WTF, while some are funny as, but yep, Olyphant is in it.

I still watch Man in the High Castle and The LAst Kingdom, with the latter being very good ( @MN5 some of the comments I read online were along the lines of 'it is what Vikings should have been')

Not sure if/when S3 of The Last Kingdom is due, IMDB doesnt show anything, so maybe it was canned?

Man in the High Castle looks like another seaosn due next year some time.

I might check this one out. Wiki said late 2018 for the 3rd season.

Forgot about Man in the High Castle. The worst thing with that show is I didn't read up to refresh myself for S1 and was completely lost for a couple of eps.

Did anyone watch The Bastard Executioner? Is it worth a watch?

when the hell do you guys find time to watch all of this TV? Do you have jobs? kids? Things outside to do?

Things i watched to conclusion this year: Game of Thrones, Last Chance U.

Things i started but never finished for various reasons: Mr Robot S2, Designated Survivor, Luke Cage.

How the hell you guys can watch all these shows, and all the sport you seem to watch is beyond me. Well done all of you.
