@canefan not saying you dont have to work for your results, quals, to make the team or whatever, just a one off exam is rarely a reflection of someones true ability (one poor game/throw/ride/swim etc is not a reflection of a poor sportsperson)
I'm not fussed on a one off winner take all exam. But internal assessment can be easily manipulated and won't pit you against the field in the way that an external examination does. Even if a course has for example a 50% external exam component it gives you a better idea where you stand

@canefan how is that any different to the real world? Plenty of plebs blunder thier way into top jobs/roles that they are unsuited for, some get found out, others fake it till they make it...

Yeah, no system is perfect I guess. I just don't like the idea that the system encourages kids to stop once they have their points. I'd expect there are plenty of kids who try to strive to be the best they can be. But if NCEA was so good why do some schools go looking for external learning exams like Cambridge

Thats the crux, no system is perfect, everyone learns differently.
I managed to get high results in English exams due to my memory, whereas I was scared shitless of math, so always just scraped in, until I got a teacher who showed me another way of doing things, nek minut, maths wasnt so scary!

@tim I was working with a weirdo that wouldn’t join any sort of forum , social media or do any sort of survey because he didn’t want the man getting ahold of his secrets. Needless to say he had a smartphone so all his paranoia was a waste of time, anyway this clown bought his girlfriend who he was having a long distance relationship with one of these and was forever bragging about it.

If you're going to Wellington there's no reason to go to Palmy whatsoever - your GPS was fucking with you.
Coming back from Taupo to try and go direct to Gladstone.

I assume your GPS tried to take you over the Pahiatua track and sent you to Palmy to do it? You could have avoided it altogether by going over the Saddle Road but then you would to have gone through Feilding, Bunnythorpe, Ashurst and Woodville, so six of one, half dozen of the other really.

That's why I said over the Saddle Road - although, TBF you could have gotten to the Pahiatua track the same way. There really was no reason to go to Palmy.
What would NTA know about magnificent, he's Australian, they call hills the Blue Mountains.
