    The Greatest Showman

If you hate musicals full stop, don't bother.

Admittedly, it took me a few scenes to get into it. Hugh Jackman is charismatic as fuck, as usual, and the wife was gushing with praise (and probably gushing in other regions) afterwards.

If your significant other finds Hugh Jackman hot, they will find it even hotter when he's apologising in tears to his wife in the film, Michelle Williams (she is also hot). Anyway, Jackman brings all his acting chops to this and does bloody well.

Lots of hot people in this film, and even a few freaks for @MN5 to spooge over.

The music is fucking superb. The two guys who wrote most of the drab shit for La La Land did the songs for this, and everything was very good.

The redheaded opera singer is quite doofable too, seen most recently by me in MI:5 - The Chinese Audiences as the British double agent.

Which is like 9 midgets I suppose. Think about it.

@tim probably rated them a bit high but they are free on prime and I've been off work two weeks with nothing to do!

Now I realise that I'm not such a movie geek as many on here and consequently will be late to the party more often than not. However. Dunkirk, Finally managed to align the planets to allow me to view this with the fragrant Mrs Cato. No kids in attendance and the added attraction of a glass or two of Macon Blanc. Much anticipation.

What an appalling experience. In itself the film was OK, though I was quite surprised to see such a dramatic story so over-dramatised. Not so much the various storylines but the cinematography. Whilst this was something of an annoyance the real problem lay closer to hand. Mrs Cato would just not shut up. She managed to keep up a barrage of inane questions throughout the film that completely fucked up any chance I had of enjoying the film or understanding the continuity. Such gems. "So who are the goodies here?" "Who is that bombing that ship? Is it us?" And the absolute piece, on seeing a pleasure boat in the middle of the English Channel - "Is that a German boat?"

To be honest I should have realised this would not go well. The poor dear has been binge watching a series called The Crown which is basically a Royal version of Home and Away. However she has taken this to be pretty much a documentary and affords it factual and historic status. This has now filtered through to anything from 1920 to 1990 and affords her an insight into the Royal family, UK politics, the Second World War and anything to do with Winston Churchill that I can only wish for.

Sod this, back to the Bourne films and John Wick for me, she can't stand that stuff.

The Founder. Pretty sad story really and Holdo is even more annoying in this. 7 hamburgers out of 10 cheeseburgers.

Yeah. Kept waiting for him to get his comeuppance but he effectively won.

(Excuse my ignorance but who is Holdo?)

    Jurrasic Park 3

Much better than the 2nd, but still nowhere near the heights of the first. Sam Neill carried the film. Awesome that the main dinosaur was a Spinosaurus, those things were bad ass.

3.5 fake billionaires out of 5 talking raptors.

Want to rent Jurrasic World but it's only available to buy on Google Movies... grrr why do they do that?

    The Foreigner

Stars an old James Bond from Goldeneye (Pierce Brosnan) and Jackie Chan.

Plot is relatively simple; Bond used to be IRA but has gotten old and adopted politics as his chosen profession so he's now deputy First Minister for Ireland. Still has all his terrorist contacts.

Jackie is the quiet unassuming ex-Special Forces soldier (well, the action and fight scenes would otherwise be difficult to believe) who seeks to avenge the death of his daughter from a terrorist bombing.

Despite the formulaic storyline, it's well paced, well shot and Brosnan steals the show with his portrayal of an ageing IRA leader.

    Bright

Stars Will Smith as a world weary street smart cop, Joel Edgerton (it astonishes me how he gets gigs) as an Orc from Avatar, and the girl from the Swedish (better) version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

There's a reason this went straight to the DVD bin Netflix. Whoever wrote this crap simply had a movie marathon and stole all the best bits of other movies and still couldn't come up with anything good. Best watched on a wet winters day after you've caught your dick in the zipper.

I didn’t know there was a Jurassic Park three till my son got into dinosaurs, imho there isn’t a dud in that series. I enjoyed all of them .

I really like that actor, especially in Warrior and Animal Kingdom. I'll admit his character kinda sux in this one though.

Yeah, I was looking forward to watching it but it really didn't work for me. Apparently it had 11 million viewers on USA Netflix within the first three days of its release and a sequel has already been commissioned.

Fair enough, anything with Dinosaurs eating people is always going to be awesome. Just thought the 2nd was more comical than thrilling, and it's tough to beat the 1st as that has the best story line.

I actually enjoyed it. My expectations weren't high after the reviews and I was never expecting more than what it was. Simply a buddy cop movie in a weird set up. A Lethal Weapon/LOTR mashup.
Watched it once, won't watch again, but it was good light entertainment.

This pretty much confirms exactly how I think I'd feel about this flick.
