Given the platform we had I think 315 is below what we should have got, but still above par. Good start to the series against a pretty decent attack, certainly a step up from the Windies.

315 is a record total at the Basin. And that is money in the bank now. Pressure is all on Pakistan to navigate the gentle Welly breeze and Boult on a hot streak.

Disastrous start for Pakistan. Wasted a review then needed that review the very next ball. Whoops. 7/2.

We're actually bloody good. And like all the good teams, difficult to beat at home. It's a good time to be a Black Caps fan.

Elements of both, that Windies team was fucken awful. Was listening on the radio just before and Oram was mentioning the depth, he rattled off a whole bunch of genuinely good players who aren't what you'd call 'first choice'
( Milne, Neesh, Anderson, Bracewell, Sodhi etc )

I thought he was talking about the ABs for a sec.

That Windies team was awful but they also won a test in England recently. We were ruthless.

I like the Lochie and Santner combo first change, doesn't allow the batsmen to easily get into a rhythm.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same game as the comms. Several times they've said Kane and Guppy "weathered the initial storm" from the Pakistan fast bowlers before picking up the pace.

No, the only storm was in the form of Munro and it was Pakistan doing the weathering. That gave Kane and Guppy the chance to take their time and get their eye in before putting the pedal down.

Astle gets Sarfraz and this is turning into an absolute hiding.

I can't believe that happened but then again it does explain England's struggles in Oz. The hosts have one all time freak, three or four really good test players and a handful of okish test players. It's not a great Australian team by any stretch.

A very, very good bowling performance on the back of a very, very good batting one. You’d feel is going to become even more oppressive for PAK as the pressure of the chase takes its toll.
