I think you're working on the theory the more times you say it then it will become true ... it's not, Isaac was fine.

Wrong, he was shit. He's a better character than Finn and Rose though.

you are massively overplaying that, for some reason (ah yea, @Bones has got it). Isaac was fine, and Poe got a great story arc (another learning from failure).

That's your opinion, I just think he's a really shit actor even by Star Wars standards.

I did crack up how he was much more pleased to see BB8 than he was to see Finn and Rose though, one can hardly blame him for that.

I don't exactly expect De Niro or Day Lewis. But I expect better than Poe.....

You’ve been saying he’s a poor actor, and there is plenty of evidence he’s pretty good.

Now if you don’t like the performance in this film, that’s a completely different thing. And it doesn’t fall just on his shoulders. You can be screwed by the script, the director or months later by the editor.

I didn’t like how the character was handled, waiting to digest it all a bit before I go see it again.

Crucial

Poe and Hux are both hammy comic book characters IMO. They are there as plot devices rather than nuanced characters.
There is no doubt that Hux is being asked to ham things up, I'm not convinced it comes off but you can see what the aim is.

Oscar Isaac has been a great actor in a number of movies, most notable Inside Llewyn Davis where he gave a very subtle performance. I can't claim to be an expert in what makes a good actor but he seems to be able to play a range of different roles and disappears into them very well.
