Manhunt: Unabomber on Netflix
Excellent show in the same vein as a number of others such as Mindhunter etc. For those that might be fans, it stars Sam Worthington.
No spoiler, but it's Ted Kaczynski...

Do they mention he was turned down twice for a sex change ?

The LOng Way Home, a Nat Geo series.
Based on the true story of an American platoon that was ambushed in Sadir, Iraq in 2004 and the subsequent attempts to rescue them from what had previously been known as 'the safest city in Iraq'
Shades of Black Hawk Down, seems poor decisions with poor intel lead to this, similarly a number of these types of films.
Decent watch though.
ANyone watched the series 'The End of the Fucking World'? Sounds like it could be good.
Have "The Long Way Home" recorded on the IQ3 and planning to binge watch that at some point soon. Good to hear that it's a decent watch.
The reason for not watching until now is that some "dramatisations" of real events aren't done very well so a decent review is helpful.
I thought it was decent, also interesting to see how with today’s press coverage and the Internet how families are affected when there is a battle like that .
-
@dk yeah it is streaming on TVNZ on demand too.
Think I am only upto about ep6, just watching an ep here and there, but compelling viewing.
@RoninWC yeah is a good watch, I think there is a touch of the Americanisation in it, but as jegga says, showing the family back home as things play out is good too.

Yeah, good watch. A modern JD Salinger type story. Some very good black humour to keep the subject matter and story from slipping into the morose.
Well paced and only as long as it needed to be.
-
@crucial yeah I'm about halfway through...dark, quirky and humorous but quite enjoying it.
Got one ep of the latest Peaky Blinders to go, fuck Tom Hardy is awesome in this! Old Little Finger is still a sneaky slimy Cnut in this too.
Not sold on Adrien Brody's NY mafia type, too stereotypical, although I guess that's the era where the stereotype came from?

Anyone still watching Vikings? Makes the battle scenes in Game of Thrones look like a game of hopscotch.
Fucken whatever Nepia, were there Dragons, Zombies, Giants and White Walkers involved?
Jog on.
Thankfully no - the boring stuff (e.g. the fantasy stuff) this season has been confined to Floki and the Iceland adventure so it's been easy to avoid.

Excuse my hostility. It's understandable though, GOT isn't on again til 2019.

I like Floki , I want to see how the Iceland thing pans out .
Favourite Floki quote
“ can you keep a secret Floki?”
“ heehee ...no” -

I'm over it. Could quite easily wait that long again. Much better stuff on Netflix and Prime.

@jegga Floki has never been on his meds, but a number of other characters this season seem to be off them as well.
They best not be killing Lagertha at any point though, lest they find another hot strong female lead, if all else fails, we can claim sexism!
-
@taniwharugby how many Skarsgårds and Saarsgads are they acting atm? They seem to be everywhere

That's why you should be watching Vikings!
@jegga I don't mind Floki (his religious stuff gets a bit OTT sometimes though) and I'm interested to see how it pans out - also, if they go to Greenland as well

@nepia where is his 'land of the gods' that he is now?
I thought he was back on Iceland? Do you think that maybe they went of course and are now in Greenland? Actually, they must be in Iceland, not white enough and too many geysers/hot pools for Greenland I'd guess.
