@taniwharugby Will definitely provide some smarts and structure. Probably good for attracting players too.

Tai Lavea's coaching credentials have been massively inflated due to his school having a considerably bigger cheque book than the rest of the teams in 1A.

You could argue Auckland's playing resources make it a comparable advantage at NPC level. But I do wonder if Tai is the coach his CV suggests.

Along with Henry, Auckland have secured the services of Tai Lavea to assist with player development.

Auckland will add another coach to the lineup soon, to focus focused on forwards and contact.

Reading between the lines it looks like Ieremia will handle the backs, Henry defence, to-be-named forwards, and Lavea player development and recruitment?

@wurzel his brother Tasesa Lavea coaches Kings too I think.

Tai's credentials may not be tested but id rather him get a crack than that nobody Australian they had in the coaching team last year.

This has me a bit more optimistic about the Mitre 10 Cup season.

I actually like the Tai Lavea signing, especially the role he has. It's easy to discredit his coaching credentials because he gets some good talent to work with, but he was getting good results before he was at St Kents.

I feel like he does a good job coaching the kids up. I'm generally impressed with how structured and disciplined St Kents are most years, and how they generally breed some pretty smart rugby players. They're very Canterbury-like, from the playing style to the poaching 😄, except most of the team are a bunch of brown kids.

@tim Anty Burnett , Hugo nankivell to Ta$man. Finn hart strawbridge to Otago. Jonno Osbourne to Manawatu. Don’t know if they have contracts but are all playing club footy. Lincoln has lost a lot of players this year. Will be a rebuilding year for sure. They will be very young.

Small point of order - you don't get services for rates. I pay the same "super city" rates as everybody else but I pay for my rubbish collection, have my own water tanks (no town supply), nor sewage system. We get nada from council and most of our roads are unsealed to boot. See what you started there? One innocent comment gone all wrong.

All that aside it is a promising sign that Ted is with Auckland. It would be good if he had a say at the Blues as well.

You've got an amazing new $154 million computer system that (the Herald reliably informs me) allows you to book a hall or license a dog from anywhere in the Supercity. And it allows you to pay your rates from anywhere in the Supercity as well, though I would have thought online banking would already have done that.

Nonetheless, it doubtless improves the speed and efficiency with which you can pay those rates and who, after all, wouldn't want that! 🙂

@chris-b The problem is - I don't really live in the super city and I don't want to. Should (for some obscure reason) I desire to visit, it will take me over an hour with no traffic. 3 hours on a bad day. I have little use for halls and I bet there are none in my area so that I could utilise his fabulous new system. It is good news about dog licencing, I am going to get one so that I can throw it's fully licenced shit at councilors.

This thread diversion is fantastic. A new high I think.
