    Black Ferns 7s for Sydney:

    1 Ruby Tui
    2 Alena Saili
    3 Stacey Waaka
    4 Niall Williams
    5 Sarah Goss – captain
    6 Michaela Blyde
    7 Tyla Nathan-Wong
    8 Kelly Brazier
    9 Gayle Broughton
    10 Theresa Fitzpatrick
    11 Portia Woodman
    12 Tenika Willison

Shakira Baker and Terina Te Tamaki seem to have missed out. They were the extra players brought in to replace injured Whata-Simpkins and Kayla McAlister (who's joined Pita Ahki in Ireland, I believe, with their daughter).

    Pool games
    Friday, 26 January
    1.06pm v Japan
    3.50pm v England
    6.12pm v USA

Winiata is still on the outside looking in. Puzzling.

@bovidae It's weird, isn't it? I remember that last year they said she was not selected because she was too keen, or something like that. Bunting has been spot on with his selections since he's been in charge, having such a huge success rate, but I don't get this.

Womens 7s in Sydney has started.

The 7s reffing as usual is garbage.

Thankfully it doesnt matter yet as the big gun teams are dominating.

One thing - the surface at the SFS looks the best it has been for a very long time.

Missed all Black Ferns 7s games today, but these are the results:

48 - 7 v Japan; Portia Woodman scored 4 tries, Blyde scored 2, and Tui & Waaka each scored one.
33-12 v England; Portia Woodman scored 3 tries, and Blyde scored 2.
31-0 v USA; Portia Woodman scored 3 tries, and Blyde and Broughton each scored one.

                  Woodman is a machine!

@kiwimurph this article highlights the way league and the parents get it wrong. Signing a five year deal at 15 is crazy and irresponsible. I know a number in this boat and it makes no sense to put all your eggs in one basket.
Anyone in the professional world and fight for players it won't stop anytime soon.

"By naming him in the All Blacks Sevens team it appears that NZR doesn't think his contract with the Warriors holds any value. Contracts signed by a minor (under 18) are not deemed binding in New Zealand.

However Nanai-Seturo is understood to have signed his agreement in conjunction with his parents and an agent so age should be irrelevant."

League media suggesting laws shouldn't count ...

Nanai doesn't look that big at this level. Nice hands to score his try.

Yeah looked very sharp - very impressed with his awareness and especially work at the breakdown, made a very sweet clear out.

                                    We looked very slick there.

New Zealand is blessed with very promising young back threes : Will Jordan, Caleb Clarke, Leicester Fainganu'uku, Etene Nanai, Alaimalo ... and Rieko Ioane is only 20.

a contract is a contract though. He’s obviously tried to slip out the back door. If he’d followed the proper rules then I’m sure the warriors would’ve released him. He’s the one who signed for 5 years as a 15 yr old. Can’t blame the warriors for any of this. He trained with them all off season last year. Someone’s from nzrfu obviously been in his ear. Not a good look to start your career though.

@chchfanatic if " Contracts signed by a minor (under 18) are not deemed binding in New Zealand" am not sure the Warriors can get that upset given they seem to gave tried to pull a swifty themselves.
