    You're missing the point.

But then, you seem upset, and thus would not be very receptive to humour.

Nah just wondering why you call out me when there’s a bunch of others here who call out the likes of Davy dumb dumb and co as often if not more then me.
Maybe I should be flattered I’m the first person you think of when ever you guys pump us.

Very good win by the way, just shows we are a level below teams like Oz.
All we can expect from the black craps is thrashing’s dealt out to shit teams like Windies, uninterested teams like Pakistan and the odd win over sides like Oz, South Africa and India.

I actually disagree with this. Test cricket? Absolutely. In short form cricket i expect us to be the equal of these sides. Our bowling should be better than the attack the Aussies turned up with, and the batting has failed, openers aside. This was a very poor tournament from us, losing two games we absolutely should have won, through poor decisions and poor execution. Our problem really is our paper-thin depth. The Aussies could afford to drop established players and bring in Big Bash performers.

The T20 side needs serious looking at. Captain first.

I should have added based on home games, we do well home against most top sides apart from Oz and SA.
I’d be confident if India had to tour here again we could have their measure ( assuming it’s a cold windy summer and played on green seaming wickets) reckon they wouldn’t enjoy Wagner bowling at them.
Looks like our current T20 strategy at the moment is for Guptill and Munroe to score about 80% of our runs and hope the rest chip in enough.
When they went cheap lastnight panic seemed to set in.

Yeah, I expect more too, but that relies on our tactics being spot on when we play the big boys. Which is why it's been so frustrating this summer, we've played some pretty dumb cricket that has nothing to do with a lack of talent.

Not sure I agree with this.

T20 and ODI are completely different I dont think you can lump 'short form' together. I think in ODI there is more scope for nous and wile to help bridge the talent gap which is why traditionally NZ has been so strong at ODIs.

NZ spinners are good at T20 but the seamers Boult/Southee/CDG/Wheeler aren't close to the Aussie T20 seamers.

I T20 you need that guy ( or a team of guys) that can do something pretty special pretty quickly. Take the game away or pull it back with an aggressive cameo with the bat or tear through a team with the ball.
Oz have plenty of guys like that, who do we have? Guptill and Munroe, maybe Boult with the ball but he’s done fuck all.
Ish and Santner bowl well and can contain most sides, but they won’t roll a team
In the 50 over game we have always been able to have bits and pieces players that can cobble us a win. There’s not the time for that in a 20 over game

@virgil lots of time for good plans and tactics to build pressure with a couple of tight overs though.

Wining the toss and making the right call to bat or bowl first helps too

You think batting first lastnight was the right call?

Our opening pair are as good as any in the world but as alluded to above there's a definite classic NZ 'bits and pieces' look to many of the other players which will hinder us against the very top sides.

KW is first name down in the other two forms but does he demand selection in T20? Very doubtful.

I kind of agree but when thw option is Tom Bruce would it be that much or any better?

If we could replace him with a better option ...

Kane can and has delivered in the past. He is just in a form slump generally at the moment.

Not picking Williamson would be crazy. I would definitely pick him ahead of Taylor/Chapman - let alone Bruce.

Williamson has looked best as an opener in the T20s but that isn't going to happen at the moment as our two best players are Munro and Guptill.

His dismissals have been very un-Williamson like.
