141/7 and seems like it's been a bit of a shambles.

Rossco and CdGh have both run themselves out.

Munro, Chapman and Nicholls have all conspired to get themselves out for 1.

Santner and Southee (and Ferguson and Boult) left with nearly 14 overs to bat.

...and now Santner and Southee engineer a third runout with a total cock-up!

They won't need to turn the lights on at this stage.

England have been pretty good but I can't recall seeing a dumber performance from a cricket team than what the Crappers have delivered today. Guptill and Taylor are meant to be senior players but wasted 50 odd balls between them. Unacceptable from those two. As for DeGrandhome and Southee, those are just unbelievably bad runouts which should never happen at this level.

at least we're not making it look as obvious as wandering down the wicket and not offering as shot...

Santner wags in the tail to make 63* - England pick up a fourth run out in the 50th over.

I'd say we're 50 odd runs short of par.

For an allrounder that is suspect with the bat Mitch is embarrassing his team mates higher up the order

All out for 223. Actually, it's a bit of a miracle we made it up and over 200, cos that wasn't looking likely. Hats off to Santner for again providing heroics at the end. Guptill gets a nod for his 50, and CdG at least made 38 before his run out, but the others were a fucking disgrace. Munro 1. Chapman 1. Nicholls 1.
Taylor gets a pass because he was so great in Hamilton, but damn he was out of sorts today. I hate seeing so many run outs on the scorecard, that just smacks of players losing their head and letting the English bowlers get to them. (Again, Santner showed how to play them. Singles, and smash a few.)

Vettori spent the majority of his career doing just that.

223 would be a lot more defendable if they stopped bowling fucking pies.

Southee is a fine bowler but I think Henry has shown recently that he deserves his place. Southee has too many nothing games and doesn't seem to do well with the old ball.

Missed most of the game today, good one to miss. Four fucking run-outs, that kills the game dead. Flush the dunny.

If Henry can sort his death bowling he'd be close to our number one ODI bowler. But at the moment he can't be trusted at the death and we don't have the flexibility to accommodate a front line quick that has to bowl out in the first 35-40.

I was there. Not a great game of cricket, once Taylor was run out it was clear the BCs weren't going to make an adequate score. So many dumb dismissals when there really wasn't much in it for the bowlers. Credit to Santner and the sensible Ferguson for at least ensuring the game went to 9pm.

Guptill still hasn't sorted his strike rotation, still plays too many dots between his big shots. Not sure Munro can open without at least taking a look at the bowling before he goes for the big shots - especially with a rookie at 3. Taylor, de G and Southee run-outs were schoolboy level, de G isn't quick and they had just run 2 to the same fielder, he was obviously going to make sure it didn't happen again.

Way too many pies bowled, Southee the main culprit bowling outside off or on the legs to get England off to a start. England obliged by getting themselves out 3 times but BCs were soon reduced to their usual tactic of bowling 50% half tracker pies and hoping for something to happen. Morgan, Stokes and Buttler feasted on it.

Good catch in the crowd for the 50K, very cool and not far from where I was sitting.

Bay Oval report - very good, lovely outfield, a decent sized playing area and the lights are superb. Was happy in the end that the match lasted long enough to need the lights!

How is the service side of Bay oval? Easy enough to get refreshments etc? Looks a great ground on TV.

I agree, but, it's getting to the point now that Henry is so much more effective with the new ball that we're going to have to play him. He's probably not going to learn much bowling at the death at domestic level, so I think we're going to have to accept that he needs to learn on the job in that regard.

It seemed to run smoothly. They have the food stalls in a separate area so it can be a bit of a walk to get food (Guppy got out while I was away) but there was plenty of choice. Beer was the usual weak stuff but no problems getting served.
