Believe me - they exist. As a longtime hitcher myself, I've been on road-trips with them, and they didn't come from West Virginia by way of Dogtown, CA. I bicycled most of the North Island with a gnarly dude from San Diego back in the mid-1980s who sounded exactly like Jeff Spicoli.<br />

The clip reminded me of a friend who was hitchhiking through the southwestern United States and hooked up with another hitcher. They were together a week, and were camped along a desert roadside in Nevada, when they guy told my friend that they'd been together long enough that he could trust in him to confide a special secret - that he was really Jesus Christ. My buddy said he "slept" with one eye open the whole night and his knife under his sleeping bag. He hightailed it the next day to put as many miles between him and the freak as possible. -
