started watching Arrow...1st ep didnt really grab me (similar to Batman in that he is a superbly organised vigilante) but I usually go for at least 4 or 5 before making a decision, the flashbacks are good and am thinking I will like it. Some of his exercises look mean!

Watching the last ep of Battlestar Galactica tonight!

The Arrow pilot was pretty ho-hum but I enjoyed it more as the series has gone a long - it's another show where the back story is at times more interesting than the current. Revolution is another one like that as well.
Season 3 is the best season I reckon. The last episode is a real tear jerker (the whole show is really, although I suppose I lose man points for admitting that), partly because they thought they might get canned so made it a show finale of sorts.

Funnily enough I'm the opposite to you, I need to watch back to back eps to really immerse myself in the show. I can't wait a week, lose the flow completely.

I have just implemented a new policy when it comes to new TV shows- I won't watch it until it is finished its 3rd season. This is for two reasons- it allows me to watch multiple eps back-to-back, and it also prevents me from being burned when a show I have invested in is canned after its 1st or 2nd season (eg How to make it in America, Hung, Party Down etc).
FNL had three finales, S1 when they thought they were going to be canned, S3 when they were canned but then Direct TV worked out a deal to keep it going and then the S5 show. FNL is a weird one to convince people to watch, females get put off by the football and guys get put off by the drama, but it's just damn good TV.

I agree with Rusty, if you stick to your 3 seasons rule you'll miss out on some great TV. Terriers and Firefly were one season's of brilliance, you have to watch them both.

I'm currently making my way through Mad Men and Breaking Bad, two shows I initially found hard to get going with but now that I've sat down and watched them they are very good.
I don't want to become one of those fawning idiots who constantly recommend TV shows, but please do yourself a favour if you haven't seen it. Season 2 is largely a mess and season 4 starts slowly but it's so worth persevering. The conclusion is really great as well, which is a rarity.

So thanks to all those who talked it up here!
Watched three eps of Banshee now. After the first "scene setter" ep where the premise of the show was set up it dived right into an ep that didn't make a huge amount of sense except show a reason for Hood to stay in town. If ep 3 is an indication of the rest of the series though we are in for a brutal ride of sex and violence. He ain't Cheryl's little boy(s) any more that's for sure.

So, finished Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy last night.

Firstly, September is too long to wait.

Jax Teller is an evil mother fucker.

Interesting they have gone down the path of making him a completely contradictory character now.

There was some gross shit in this season.

Watched the Netflix-only revamp of House of Cards and thought it was awesome.

The original UK series featuring Ian Richardson as a scheming, amoral, murderous politician was superb but credit to the US team for transposing it to Washington and giving it an updated perspective. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are brilliant as the power couple who will backstab anyone to get what they want, even each other.

I'm a big fan of the Netflix approach of putting the whole season up in one go too. Makes it more like a book than a TV series. No more waiting for your once a week fix - now you get to see as much in one go as you like. Season 2 is already on its way.

about a dozen eps into both Arrow & Person of Interest

Arrow - am enjoying it for what it is, I do think they try a bit hard to be serious, but otherwise a good watch, like the flashbacks mostly.
POI - Pretty good, similar theme to S1 although they are trying to give a bit more depth to characters as we delve into their past.

Walking Dead - this season is v-good IMO!! Am watching it on TV2, which is only 2 days behind the US (aside from airing it at 2230, this is great)
The Following - started off pretty well, always liked Kevin Bacon, and think James Purefoy is brilliant.

I think they are trying to avoid being corny, and are walking the comicbook tightrope between serious and cheesy. I don't mind it though and its a reasonably entertaining filler.
Got some catch up to do on this, but I still enjoy it and agree that the writers have steered away from formula to keep it interesting, which is good.
I'm really loving Banshee as a guilty pleasure. I only started watching it because I wanted to see how Ant Starr did in it, but man it is full on! The guy should be a criple by now considering the fights he gets into each week and the prison flashbacks out Sutter, Sutter. Decent amount of titty as well.

Yeah on Arrow, I do like it, I just feel it is a bit samesie alot of the time, but still easy watching, although I expect there is still another twist to come.

My brother has been watching Banshee as well, so I will no doubt watch it at some point.
