so you think he only fell down and bound on after the ball left? just for a bit of a rest? how cute.

    Penalty!

(this is my pet hate in the game, the allowance of both sides at the ruck to get that low leads to most of the shit at the breakdown we all hate)

@mariner4life why not? that looks like a good couple of seconds after the ball has left (I know Ardie is super quick, but still...) after which binding, not supporting etc are no longer valid, only foul play?

@kiwimurph Why? Where's their own competition that was all the talk? I guess the difference is paying professional footballers can't be a charitable donation...

@antipodean The last thing I read about that competition was in this article:

Rugby Australia has still not given a final tick of approval to the Indo Pacific Rugby Championship despite day-long talks in Perth today.

IPRC is set to kick off in March next year but matches against Pacific Island teams like Fiji, Samoa and Tonga and Super Rugby sides like the Crusaders and Brumbies are already being organised for the Force.

Robinson said discussions were also held on a new SANZAAR strategy paper.

“It lines up what the world might look like in the next two three years,” he said.

“It looks at different options that SANZAAR has, the status quo or other options, including expansion in an Asia Pacific context.

“From the Force’s perspective that is probably the piece that is more relevant.

“The focus on SANZAAR is to make the existing competition work but at the same time look at what it could look like in 2021 and beyond.

“It comes down to expansion into Pacific Island and Asian markets, markets that Super Rugby are looking at, either through IPRC if we go down that path or through an expansion of the NRC.

“We can open up opportunities for those teams.”

One area that RA will not be shifting from is Wallabies eligibility.

Players can only qualify if they are signed to an Australian side or have played 60 tests if playing overseas.

“That is our position. It protects the integrity of our domestic competition,” Robinson said.

“In an IPRC world the WA team will be a vehicle for people to play for Australia.”

Forrest wants any Australian players lured back from Europe or Japan and playing in any IPRC sides to be eligible.

According to Yalden, Moli's injury was so serious that they were talking of a possible amputation.

Let's just hope that he can make it back onto the rugby field at some stage. Such an outstanding prospect.

            More info

Billionaire Andrew Forrest has announced a series of seven invitational matches for axed Super Rugby club Western Force this year, one of which involves the current champions, the Crusaders.

Forrest has grandly titled the matches, World Series Rugby (WSR).

The matches, to be played at Perth's nib Stadium, will pit a new-look Western Force team against Pacific nations Fiji, Tonga and Samoa plus Hong Kong and Super Rugby outfits the Crusaders and Melbourne Rebels between May and August. A Japanese team is likely to round out the competition.

The Crusaders match is scheduled for June 22, which is when Super Rugby is in recess because of the June test window. The Crusaders play the Chiefs on June 2, but don't have another Super Rugby game until July 6 when they play the Highlanders in Christchurch.

              www.medicinenet.com/hematoma/article.htm#what_are_the_complications_of_a_hematoma

What are the complications of a hematoma?
Hematomas cause swelling and inflammation. Often the inflammation and swelling cause irritation of adjacent organs and tissues, and cause the symptoms and complications of a hematoma.

One common complication of all hematomas is the risk of infection. While the hematoma is made of old blood, it has no blood supply itself and therefore is at risk for colonization with bacteria.

Ok in that case it’s a haematona that has gone badly wrong: such as a fasciitis or other serious infection. No way they amputate for a simple clot.

                    Super Rugby Judiciary Week #3

Richie Mo'unga of the Crusaders was issued with a Warning for contravening Law 9.13 - A player must not dangerously tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously, during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

The incident occurred in the 39th minute of the match between the Crusaders and Stormers played at AMI Park, Christchurch on Saturday 3 March 2018.

A Warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in their opinion do not meet the Red Card threshold for citings. Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a Warning was appropriate for this incident.

39th minutes of the game, 1m36s into the clip:

@stargazer Guys like Wainui, who get cut from Super squads are in an unusual position.

I've been quite impressed to see that Bedwell-Curtis has evidently hung around Christchurch and is now getting another opportunity with the Crusaders. Doesn't appear to have dropped his lip.

Hard to know what sort of conversation he had with Razor, but he was certainly more unlucky than Wainui - HB-C played very well last year, there just seemed to be more good loose forwards than spots available.

Mitch Dunshea might be testing patience though. Entering his third season (I think) on the injured list. He and Tim Perry among the more expert water bottle carriers in NZ!
