@stargazer in all seriousness I wonder if the Crusaders are considering him at 10? Hunt and Delaney are not 10s that you can win a championship with and Havili is looking good at the back.

No chance, razor really rates Mitch hunt. Dagg defending at 10 gives me nightmares

But you're happy for him to defend at fullback?

Nope, Havilli is first choice fullback for the crusaders these days.

Well he did play a number of tests at 15 for the ABs unless I'm mistaken.

....and they're a better team than the saders.

You asked my opinion and I gave it... ive never rated Dagg as a defender and have been pretty vocal about it on here.

So to answer your question, I’m not happy with dagg defending at fullback in any team

Fair call but 'nightmares' seems a bit over the top. He's no Merhts....

Dagg has a big punt, but it's a fullback's punt -- there's a long and deep wind-up. Fullbacks who move into the line struggle to get their kicks away in time -- charge-downs were a real issue for Leon McDonald when he did it.

You'd have to be really desperate.

@crazy-horse I seriously doubt they're considering it. They may use his boot now and then, but that's about it. As far as I know, Dagg has never played at 10. I think Dagg will end up playing at 14 like last year, with Tamanivalu moving to 11 and Bridge to the bench.

I decided to check it and the answer is 'no'. All the games he played, he started at fullback (with Ben Smith starting most games at 14). First fives in those days included Dan Bowden, Jayden Hayward, Matt Berquist and Robbie Robinson.

I think we could be struggling for a back up 10.
If you look at the 5 starting franchise 10s, you have Beauden(Canes), Lima ( Highlanders), Gatland/Perofeta (Blues), Richie ( Crusaders) and Mckenzie/Falcon
If McKenzie isn’t playing 10 for the chiefs then he can’t really count as a genuine option.
Richie could be injured for most of the season before the June series.
So Hansen could be left with picking out of Falcon, Gatland, Perofeta or Hunt for third 10

When is Dagg due back? Cometh the hour, cometh the man!

Just saw on instagram that Dagg has returned to training with the Crusaders today!

So Hansen could be left with picking out of Falcon, Gatland, Perofeta or Hunt for third 10

When is Dagg due back? Cometh the hour, cometh the man!

Just saw on instagram that Dagg has returned to training with the Crusaders today!

                            First five-eighth problem solved 🙂

@tim Makes sense to invite Julian with all the injuries going around the AB ranks at the moment. Doesn't mean a thing for selection in June, though.

Oh, how hard would it have been for Bidwell to also include the list of Blues and Chiefs players attending camp?

@stargazer Also seems that they are only considering 2017 All Blacks for the camps so far (Coltman aside).

The NI camp in Auckland is tomorrow, presumably to allow the Blues players to return from SA. So does that mean that the Chiefs' ABs can't leave for Tokyo until Wed? Poor planning again from Hansen.

I doubt the list of canes players came from the ABs, rather from the canes themselves.

Also Hansen will not be the one planning the actual days of the camps, he would have asked for them but various underlings would have done the organising and negotiating with the teams.

I'll stop making excuses now 🤪
