Good to hear, because I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow. It is getting reamed in the reviews.<br />
I'm going tonight. I don't think they'd ever expect to get good reviews now. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a critic rating of 12% but more telling was the 85% user rating. One for the unwashed masses methinks <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':hi:' /> -
IMO the Die Hard movies are like a Big Mac; you know exactly what you will get everytime with little variance from the tried and true, they aint gonna win any culinary awards, but then they dont really expect they should win any either.<br />
<br />
I wil be watching it at some point! -
Saw The Impossible last night . Wasn't too bad a watch either . Based on a true story and you would think it was pretty much impossible for it to have played out as it did .

the 2004 Tsunami

Just got back from seeing West of Memphis a docu-drama about the murders of three 8 year old boys in Arkansas in 1993 and the subsequent trial, incarceration and campaign for freedom of the three teenagers accused of the crime. The "West Memphis 3" as they became known had some pretty high profile supporters including Fran Walsh and Peter Jackson, who present the film.<br />

You think you've heard or read of this kind of thing before but this movie really made my blood boil at times. Arakansas does not come out of it well at all and you really have to question the legal system at state level where judges, DA's and various other officials are all trying to get re-elected first and place justice a distant second.<br />
<br />
Very powerful, long movie but I love the fact that the resurrected cinema in my town plays this kind of film on a Monday night. -

What's it about CJ?<br />
Yeah the 2004 tsunami . The whole family were at a swimming pool that was basically right by the beach , the movie shows what happened to them . Good special effects sequences of the tsunami too . -

I haven't seen it yet, but saw the first 2/3 of the original docs, so should check this one out too.<br />
<br />
Did you ever see "Thin Blue Line"? One of my fave docs ever, and as you say, will make your blood boil about American Justice. -

No, I've never seen it - but will try and get hold of a copy. I'm a big fan of this kind of film making. -

Die hard 5... Better than 4, prob same level as 3. 1 & 2 still the benchmarks though.<br />
<br />
Good watch, John McLane is still the man. Few nice little tributes to the original in there too.<br />
<br />
<br />
Yep, agree with MR's review. Better than 4, but still more cartoonish than the first 2. A fun watch.<br />
<br />
Last night I watched 'End of Watch'. Great cop movie - more gritty than other buddy cop movies and seemed more realistic in its portrayal of cop procedures, etc. -
Watched Lawless on the weekend . Based on true story of moonshine makers during prohibition . Good film , well worth a look .<br />
<br />
Also saw Cabin In The Woods . Can't say as it was all that good except for the ending which was quite cool. -
Last night, while the wife was watching "Downton Abbey" i was hunting around on the 2nd TV, and stumbled across one of my favourite movies. "True Lies" is fucking awesome. It's ridiculous, and fun, and Arnie kills (Tom Arnold is good too). Top stuff.<br />

True Lies is a terrible film, but an awesome guilty pleasure. Tom Arnold is the best thing in it, he's hilarious and has some great one-liners.

"She's got an ass like a ten year old boy!"<br />
<br />
Love that movie. One of Arnie's finest. Out-Bonded Bond at the time with one of the coolest gadgets ever - a fucking Harrier Jump Jet - take that James and your silly sports car. Oh and they actually show terrorists letting off an A-bomb in the US. Brilliant. -
The scene with (Tom) Arnold in the toilet stall taking about "blowing out the O-ring" always makes me laugh.

Searching for the Sugarman<br />
<br />
Documentary about Rodriguez who was a forgotten musician from Detroit in the late 60's early 70's that became bigger than Elvis in South Africa. Enjoyed it very much.<br />

I very much want to see this and have been waiting for it to come to our local flicks since it was released.
