With starting goal shoot Te Paea Selby-Rickit bedridden with a virus, New Zealand started Bailey Mes in her place. Mes again struggled with her shooting and was subbed in the third quarter for Ameliaranne Ekenasio.
Explains half of why she was starting
@booboo Doesn't explain why Mes is in the team though. A GS who can't shoot? That is insane. Folau deserves credit considering every quarter she and Mes were on, she had to carry the entire load. I mean Mes wasn't netting from anywhere, and that is unforgivable. A GA's job is to link between the midcourt and circle, to feed the ball to the GS and to be a back up for rebounds. They should never be asked to do all that PLUS shoot all the goals.

Overall was pretty flippant over the questions, short without really answering them -
@chris-b Any sports journo worth their salt should be laying into Southby. You can't argue with the facts, under her watch the Ferns have slid backwards at an alarming rate.

I’d say David Kidwell has a better chance of been retained as the kiwis coach then she does as coach of the ferns

@chris-b I saw in the Stuff live blog Southby said something along the lines of the problem was lack of belief. If she truly thinks that is the main issue, the Ferns are fucked.
