See, I can't even picture the Rock as Reacher unless he changed his look a lot.<br />
<br />
In the books a great deal is made of Reacher being a) a big bastard; <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> not great looking but somehow attractive to women c) pretty slow and laconic except with bursts of rapid 'survival' fighting.<br />

<br />
I thought The Rock ticks all those boxes..

Broken City: Marky Mark is a cop who looses his job for shooting a suspect, Crowe is the mayor who keeps him from being prosecuted for the killing. A number of years later Crowe gets Marky Mark (now a PI) to tail his wife (Catherine Zeta Jones) for evidence of an affair. All is not what it seems.<br />
<br />
Decent enough thriller, predictable as fudge, has Coach Taylor in it so that's always a bonus, and the three leads are watcheable.<br />

<br />
Watched this last night, and yep, fairly predictable, but still a decent flick!<br />
<br />
One question about the ending;<br />
<br />
In regard to the fact Wahlbergs character was found not guilty at the start, and then when arrested for the same murder at the end, is that 'double jeopardy' law not real or does it not apply in this case, and if so, why not?

I don't think double jeopardy is real, when the movie of that name starring Ashley Judd came out I remember reading about it not being real ... although that was a case of killing someone who you had 'already' killed I think. I text my mate who is a law lecturer so will let you know if he gets back to me.
Occasionally, yes!<br />
<br />
As someone heavily involved in the storytelling industry, I'm hyper aware (and critical) of dialogue and plot issues/how backstory is woven in/pacing etc from a technical point of view. It's really hard to stop analysing. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'd suggest you avoid anything that started as a franchise or spin off.

Saw Jack Reacher, was decent enough, if not a bit long for what it was, or maybe it was trying to be a bit more than what it was...<br />
<br />
Finally saw it as well. I was surprised by it as I didn't realise it was a detective story as I thought it was just going to be a shoot em up.<br />
<br />
I thought Cruise was fine, but having not read the books I didn't have a version of Reacher already.<br />
<br />
One scene annoyed me:<br />
When Reacher meets the main fighting bad guy and then drops his gun to have a fight, just shoot him you dick, also, what was the point of Duvall's character if he's going to do jack shit. For a sniper he did pretty shit ... the director/writers could have given him at least one kill shot to show his skills.
<br />
<br />
Of course, I too would be happy to see the Rock play the role.

I too saw Jack Reacher. Thought it was OK. My big problem is that I'm just bored watching Tom Cruise. It's the just all the same stuff. The way he walks, stands, looks - seen it so many times.<br />
<br />
The book is much better than this, particularly the denouement. I couldn't understand why they hadn't gone with the setup in the novel. It's way better. Bit of a miss really. Nepia: the literary Jack Reacher is a lot tougher.

I thought Liam Neeson might be a good fit for Reacher but he might be a bit on the old side . Liev Schreiber would be my first choice,I can picture that guy being Reacher a lot easier than Cruise.Not that I didn't enjoy Reacher and Rosamund Pike especially.<br />
After reading the books there's no way I can see the Rock doing it.<br />
<br />
Btw if anyone else here has read the Shipping News do you reckon Neeson would have been a better choice than Spacey? Quoyle was described in the book as a huge shambling oaf of a man , Spacey was a fucking awful fit.

Iron Man 3 - loved the whole fighty, techy gee-whizz bangy swagger of the whole thing.<br />
<br />
But left the cinema muttering: "leave it, leave it, don't think about it too much."<br />
<br />
Because you shouldn't watch a movie like this and think about it too much. It's not healthy. Sure there are a lot of things that will boil your piss if you dwell - the thing with the kid for instance, or how helicopters can get close enough to a billionaire industrialist and former munitions magnate's cliff-top home to loose of a storm of rockets - but you don't need to do this. Just settle in and watch RDJ do his thing.<br />
<br />
But the absolute best thing is Ben Kingsley. This is worth watching the movie for alone. I'll say no more, but trust me on this, the Mandarin is sensational.

Watched Oblivion. It looked great, but the story was confusing. I think there might have been some sort of Illuminati subtext, but I don't want to think too hard about it. Those drones look scary!

What. The. Fuck. I was flicking through channels last night having been bored shitless by the first half hour of the "Total Recall" remake (no amount of hot chicks was saving that turd) and went past World Movies on the way to the sports channels. The first thing i see is Willem Defoe's hard cock smashing into his wife (and i mean his actual hard cock. and balls. screen size. on a 42" plasma). "a bit different" i thought as i looked over the shoulder to make sure the wife wasn't watching. While all sorts of dramatic music played, The Green Goblin fed it to his on-screen wife. Then their toddler got out of bed, and watched them, and then fell out a 2nd story window. I pretty much got as far as that before it got canned. Called "Antichrist" i believe, apparently won some sort of award. Movie people are weird. Who makes this shit? And more to the point, who actually enjoys it? Freaks.<br />
<br />
(Edit: Ok, i just IMDB'ed this fucking thing. Goddam am i happy i turned it off. The bloke that made this is one sick motherfucker.)<br />
<br />
On the plane last week i watched "Warm Bodies" that zombie movie where they start to come back to life, because one gets the hots for a chick. It's pretty fucking amusing actually, i enjoyed it.

The mrs went away and I let my son choose the dvd for saturday night.<br />
He chose Nazis at the centre of the earth , this epic tale of Zombie Nazis living under Antarctica was criminally overlooked by the academy. Apparently shot on a budget of $200000 we lasted about 20 minutes before my son told me it was and I quote "frickin crap dad" and we turned it off.<br />
<br />
M4life, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antichrist_(film) looks like a good one to chuck on to clear out the guests after a party.
