Movie review thread...

@tim CK Stead was one of my lecturers when Sleeping Dogs came out. Given its profile at the time and the fact it effectively resuscitated the NZ film industry it was quite cool to chat about it with the author of the source material. Not sure if I've ever seen it a second time
I have seen it a few times (when it popped up on tele) and the story stands up well even if the film itself is a touch dated. A sympathetic remake could be quite good although it would draw comparisons to Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Overseas audiences would think all we do in NZ is hide in the bush.

Wait until someone decides to make a new movie out of a Barry Crump novel....

Or John Mulgan's 'Man Alone'.
Interesting recent article about someone re-tracing the route the main character takes in that book (from Raetihi across to the Kaimanawas and South)

@nta no moustache rides for you then...
That movie either works for you or it doesn't. There is no middle ground. But I liked it.
7 Boys who like Mexico out of 10 Litres of Cola
Same here. Cry laughing every time I see it

I figured that. Like Will Ferrell films - not many people on the fence there

I couldn't be any more triggered.
Challenge accepted:
Will Ferrell is a comic genius. Even the worst ten minutes of Anchorman 2 is better than this Broken Lizard shit.
Was it some other bloke who came to stay and have a few beers with me last year? He actually had a good sense of humour.....

Try watching Everything Must Go. Will Ferrell movie that is... not a comedy.

No. I am still traumatised by Vince Vaughn trying to act in True Detective.

Count me on the negative side of the fence for Will Ferrell. If I see his name attached to a movie I don't even bother.
I think he is better as a supporting actor (Old School, Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, Starsky and Hutch) than a leading actor (Talladega nights, Elf, Anchorman), although I did find Anchorman quite amusing

Holy shit Step Brothers is some all time funny shit
