Does anybody seriously think that Moa & Barry will keep the ratings up and last? Only so many times the "am I not white or male enough for you" argument can have people cheering.
Anyone catch them lastnight? Anika had the funbags on display. Had to say I was staring for a while before I snapped too and realised how aweful the rest of the package is..

@majorrage not really a big fan of the show, but I used to kinda watch with Hoskings & Street, more so due to Hoskings always had something that was bound to wind up the bleeding heart masses (kinda like a Paul Henry lite)
But I don't think I have watched any since our Mom has joined the show with Wells and I certainly didn't know Moa was on there....

@dogmeat If you were in the Queen St / Wellesley St intersection I was probably very close to you. I didn't get arrested though, it was very hot and we got bored so we went and spent some more of our meagre bursary at the Occidental. Then the Kiwi, then the Globe, probably.

@jc Yup that's the one. I think only about 30 got arrested in the end. Don't remember it being hot but it was fine.
Cops were very good and even allowed us to get food and stuff. Certainly I got a lot more bruises after I "fell down the steps" the next time I got arrested ....
The Kiwi was my office I spent about 3 hours every lunchtime there. Uni for me was all socialising.

@mariner4life Hey I wasn't the one who buggered off to the pub because it got a bit hot.
I was deeply concerned that future generations wouldn't enjoy the benefits of free education that I had. I was the first member of my family (working class) who had ever attended university and profited from a 3 year tax-funded piss up.
Plus I was jealous of those a few years older than me who had been able to take to the barricades against the Vietnam War and establishment oppression.

@mariner4life Now that you can definitely lay down at Phil Goff's door. The original plan was for student loans to be offered by the banks. When the banks got scared off the government just started their own scheme. But Phil Goff, Trevor Mallard and Roger Douglas were circle-jerking about their cunning plan to make the Mariners pay retrospectively for my education and my drinking habit. For which, thanks, by the way.

@dogmeat @JC Your era sucks, all your protesting and we wound up with fees and compounding interest student loans. We'd have been better off if you'd just gone straight to the pub.
Meanwhile our era fought back and got the compounding interest removed, then the interest removed (wouldn't have happened if the banks controlled student loans).
Not that I did anything to contribute to that fight myself.

Uni was fucking great. No regrets, despite a couple of things with hindsight i could have done a bit better. Played footy, worked in pubs, bit of study, met my best mates in the world.

We didn't give a fuck about you lot but it bribed your parents and allowed us to continue to go to a more refined class of drinking establishment.

@paekakboyz Don't even get me started on that 8.5% clusterfuck of compounding interest that started from the minute you rung up. I borrowed 30k and ended up paying back 42k.
