Movie review thread...

Watched Dredd lastnight, really enjoyed it thought Urban was great.
Simple but effective plot, only criticism would be it felt a tad too short, but in saying that it ran at a decent pace and had plenty of action. -
Gangster Squad - few names (Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, JOsh Brolin, NIck Nolte) in this. Decent enough film, if not a bit slow.

Silver Linings Playbook - pretty decent Rom-Drama, predictable ending for the romance part of the genre, but story and acting was pretty good otherwise. -
I am on a roll of shit movies at teh moment. I crashed out on the couch in front of "Wrath of the Titans" last night.

I knew it was going to be shit, the first one was shit, and the 2nd is never an improvement. They downgraded the hotness of the chick, made the monsters less interesting, and kept Sam Worthington.

Seriously, how the fuck did this guy make the jump from bricky to "action star"? He is atrocious.

This movie sucks, if you haven't seen, but thought you might maybe one day waste your time, don't. Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes must have really needed some money that week (i assume this was made in a week). I won't go into some of the outrageous shit like protecting yourself from fire by hiding behind a flimsy, dry wooden door, or being able to fly unscathed through a fucking lava monster. -
I reckon they filmed the entire film in one take, cos Liam was rushing off to film his other career highlight, Taken (again) 2!

Watched Stand Up Guys on a long flight. Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin. The first 30 minutes were a bit slow, but then it really picked up. Good review of it here...
He is fucking terrible. -
Death in Bruges, not a bad watch.
Colin Farrell is actually proficient at playing nearly likeable arsewipes. Tom Cruise take note. -
On the plane last week i watched "Warm Bodies" that zombie movie where they start to come back to life, because one gets the hots for a chick. It's pretty fucking amusing actually, i enjoyed it.
Watched Warm Bodies last night. Kind of a zombie Romeo and Juliet. I also enjoyed it, a few laugh out loud moments, and altogether pretty enjoyable. The bone guys CGI was a little average, but other than that a fun watch and a novel take on an old story. -
Have cable tv now and have watched quite alot of movies recently:

Wrath of the titan: as noted above utter shit and yes SW is crap.
American Reunion: not bad. Usual stuff.
Horrible Bosses: horrible film
Goon:ice hockey film with the guy that plays Stifler. Pretty good.
Withnail&I: Classic!
Senna: great doco on the driver.
Piranha DD: utter farking shart. First film was great but this was awful.

Have also watched a couple of those Justice League films with my son which are pretty damn good. A proper film with these guys would crap on the avengers. -

Yup. My partner & son were out of town one night so instead of sitting at home watching porn I decided to get out to the IMAX theatre and watch this in 3d, thinking even if it's shit it will still be awesome in 3d on the big screen. Half way through I couldn't be fucked with it anymore, what a waste of time and money. -

Not seen this yet, but I have seen the trailer. Looked as though it might almost be a remake of Mulholland Falls? -
Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters - thought they overplayed the power of the witches a tad...

Best thing about this film was Gemma Arterton;
This Is 40. Wife was home sick on Friday and rented it on Apple TV. Suggested I watch it before it expires tomorrow.

Thought this was going to be more of a comedy - and there was a lot of funny shit in there - but by fuck some of it cut close to the bone on the marriage front.

Enjoyed it overall, but glad we didn't watch it together as I could have gotten in terrible trouble... -
