Anyone seen any of these?
A couple of episodes into this show, and really enjoying it. It is one of those shows that you have to pay attention to, no web surfing and watching at the same time. There are a number of details you have to pay attention to, and the overall story is pretty well written. The main actress, Tatiana Maslany, does a fantastic job of playing multiple characters. So much so that when in the same scene, you forget that it is the same actress playing both roles. You really notice it when she plays one character pretending to be another character in the show, and there are subtle differences in the mannerisms versus how she normally portrays them. Worth a watch, hard to find decent sci fi these days.

I have a couple episodes of season 2 of Continuum saved up as well now that the US TV season is mostly done until September.

With regard to Game of Thrones, have any of you fellas who haven't read the books guessed the identity of the psycho torturing Theon?

I just watched the first 10 minutes and was grabbed!

I read the synopsis and thought 'this could be OK or bad' but right from the start was hooked. Only realised when I started watching that it was a BBC America series and the production quality shows it. Maybe it's because i've been watching too much cheesy shite like Arrow and Defiance recently, but this looks good.

Ramsay Bolton (although at this point he is still Ramsay Snow). Roose Bolton's bastard. The sigil of House Bolton is the flayed man. Which is what he's doing to Theon now.

In the books he was assisting Theon at Winterfell, and then betrayed him. He was still there at the end of DwD.
I can't see how anyone who hasn't read the books would know who he was though? Would only have been a very brief mention if any.

I started watching Orphan Black due to recommendations on here - I think it's a great show and agree with Rusty, that actress is bloody good. Very believable in the multiple roles.
Haven't read past first book, have no idea who it is and it is by far the most boring part of this series IMHO, it makes the Stannis parts seem the most exciting since slice bread. I will not care if we don't go back there again.
Rectify - "An intense and moving and wonderfully languid series. Ray McKinnon has created a show about a man coming off Death Row after 19 years and his re-entry into small town society is like emerging into a strange dream world". (Ray McKinnon played Lincoln Potter in SOA
Just finished the short first season (only six episodes). This is the best new show that no one watched. It might be the best show on TV, period. It's biggest knock is it's slow pacing, but I actually thought it just about right. It's nice to have a show that doesn't feel the need to cram in action everywhere. Brilliant acting, especially the main actor. Part murder mystery, part family drama, mostly a character study. It is beautiful to watch, the cinematography and imagery is perfect. The music too. This is television at it's best. Tim, here is you replacement for Rubicon.

Edit: Rectify is on Sundance Channel, which is a subsidiary of AMC. The home of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels etc. It is as good as any of them.

For those of you that have ignored the TSF reviews of Orphan Black, you are missing out on a really good show.

Plowing through these at the moment, having put all other shows aside for the time being. Good story, great acting, writing and production.

I see Tatiana is up for an award among some big names in the latest round of ceremonies which is amazing recognition given the lack of mainstream support for the show.

I read where this is now going to be shown on BBC3 in the UK and expect it will pick up a head of steam there as it's far more 'britlike' than US.

On another note I have read with apprehension that among the planned new series in the US is a reboot of one of my favourite shows as a kid 'The Tomorrow People'

I am waiting for Orphan Black to come to a house near me, as I have no internet at my place at the moment (with nothing until probably Sept/Oct)

Finished S1 of Grimm, and I started off a bit so so, but have enjoyed it overall (not a must watch, but easy watching)

For anyone in the USA, BBC America is running a marathon of the first 9 episodes of Orphan Black in a row before the premiere of the 10th and final episode. From noon to 10PM on Saturday (Est). Alternatively, the episodes are available On Demand for free as well.

Yep started on orphan black when it was suggested at first, really well done and it's fun trying to figure out which one you'd have a go on first.

After hearing the good reviews on here I finally decided to give The Wire a try. Love it. Have since got hold of all 5 seasons and am about 5 episodes into season 2. Really addictive show!
Yeah, Cosima is holding her own at the front at the moment, although there's something about Alison which has her rising up the ranks...

Cosima was my least favourite when she was just being the hippy scientist, but when she dressed up for dinner she looked fine. Alison does nothing for me, I hate that fringe on women (is that what bangs are), I think it decreases attractiveness. She is a funny character though.

So has anyone else got stuck into Season 4 of Arrested Development yet? I am about 70% done. It stated off a little slow due to the character based episodes, but after watching a few where the events overlapped, I d missed quite a few of the tie-ins in episodes 1-3, and actually re-watched them, and enjoyed them more. While there was no way it would live up to the expectation/hype, I actually don't think S04 is that bad. Being killed a bit by critics though. Deff worth a watch.
