    Operation Odessa

Movie length doco about 3 mafia types (a Russian, a Miami car sales man and a Cuban) in the 90s as they try to negotiate and buy a Russian sub for the Cali cartel after the collapse of the USSR.

THe Cuban guy in particular was fucking awesome fucking man.

These guys are larger than life characters and despite what they do, are likable and oddly enough, stereotypical.

4 Russian subs out of 5 ton of cocaine

So we can be sure Millenials will take to social media to express their outrage?

Basic Instinct, an exceptionally good film and the best of the 90s erotic thrillers, has a Metacritic rating of 41.

    Pearls before swine.

I remember even pre internet this movies reputation preceded it. A guy at school went before I did, a bunch of us asked how it was and all he mentioned was the predictable plot.

Not one mention of the infamous growler scene.

The fact this bloke came out a few years later was absolutely no surprise at all.

I recall going to the movies to watch it, think were about 8 or 9 of us, normal cinema ambient noise, right on intermission (haha, yep, interfuckingmission!!) one mate turns to another, wow I got a semi from that...we were sitting near the back, only problem was, at that moment, the theatre went silent and the giggles from right down the front let us know everyone heard it!

@taniwharugby yeah I found it really seemingly far fetched after a while! I mean... Why is the Cuban bothering talking to them?

@bones if its all true, it is even awesomer!

He was funny though, the way he talked.

I guess they knew about Juan and Ludwig (Tarzan) and they would surely have known how to get hold of the Cuban, and I guess he was ready to bolt doing interviews in his jet...

    Baby Driver

So, i guess it looks kinda cool, and has a great soundtrack, but really, that's about it. The movie finished, and i turned it off, and aside from this very short review, i will probably never think of it again. There just wasn't much to remember, and certainly not much in the way of "new".

John Hamm's latino missus was fiiiine as a motherfucker

2.5 psychotic Willie Beamens out of 5 Dictaphone remixes

    So, the new Avengers

    I liked it, but...

It was almost too big. Too many characters; too many locations; too many plot threads. The did an admirable job keeping it coherent, but the problems were not their own making. By making all of the Marvel movies slightly different (Guardians is a comedy, so is Thor now i guess, some are darker, some are lighter) meshing the characters together can be pretty difficult. And it was weird to go from a dark scene where a bunch of people got straight up murdered, to the Guardians taking the piss out of each other.

It also really affected Tony Stark, who used to be the sarcy funny one, but now, with the Guardians in the same movie, seems like a snide jerk-off.

Thanos and his magical dark elves were pretty cool, if a little clunky in the CGI

    :::

I liked the end, it surprised the fuck out of me. But if you are going to do that, i need to know you have a plan to end it, and you're not winging it (a year from now apparently).

And i guess that ending pretty much writes the Marvel schedule for the next 12 months.

It's a little terrible that economic realities lead you to the conclusion there is no way Marvel are just allowing the investment they have made in those characters to literally blow away in the wind. Especially when they already have sequels announced!

That's exactly the response I think they want mate. It leaves you hanging to see how the next film plays out. It's already going to be a smash hit!!!

Pretty much my feeling too, they did film Avengers 4 at the same time, they are refusing to release its title as its a potiental spoiler.
Some combos didn’t work but did enjoy Thor ( pirate angel) with the Guardians
Thought Thanos was very well done too( effects by NZ’s Weta workshop btw)
Thought it was well done with him and Gamora.
Overall thought it was way better then Age of Ultron but lacked the cool/wow factor of the original Avengers movie.

Yup. And the next one will keep on taking too. They left it wide open, I expect big things from the next film in terms of closing plot lines etc

Shit yea. There is no way they are killing all those characters off. Everyone will be back. Probably even the green chick Gamora, even though she got thrown off that cliff. My question though, if Captain Marvel kills the purple dude, then they turn back time, don't they bring him back to life or can they selectively alter time? 🤔
