Have you lived there? I've always found Malaysia to be the most Western of the Asian countries (in regards to facilities, infrastructure etc), but then I'm only ever a tourist when I'm there.

Have you lived there? I've always found Malaysia to be the most Western of the Asian countries (in regards to facilities, infrastructure etc), but then I'm only ever a tourist when I'm there.
No but the in laws are from there. It is very moderate, carryover from English rule perhaps? You definitely see the difference between Singapore and Malaysia in terms of infrastructure, Malaysia has no excuses, they have the money and the manpower but their leaders are too busy filling their own pockets to really get shot done

@canefan I wasn't really making a comparison with Singapore ... more Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia etc.
KL has better infrastructure than Auckland easy, even accounting for the monorail line to nowhere (although TBF every developed country has their white elephants).
But I don't know much about the politics of Malaysia ... even though when I'm there I spend a fair bit of time with mates who are locals.
Fuck! Now I feel like a Milo Dinosaur - a real one, not the knock off ones they have here in Oz.

The ironic thing is these people claim to be against stereotyping.
