@magpie_in_aus Yep very cool. Was a shame he couldn't stay in Toronto and stay injury free.

Meanwhile Celtics just destroyed the Cavs in Game 1 of the ECF.

Somehow Celtics coach didn't get 1 vote from his peers for coach of the year - the dude is the best coach in the league.

He doesn't strike me as the type of guy who cares. Very humble, super smart and his players would run through a wall for him

If they win game 2 the alarm bells might start ringing quietly in CLE

Right on cue the GSW bid the rockets a welcome to the conference finals by taking home court advantage in game 1

This whole season was fun, but one wonders if GSW might just stand up and show their class, and in turn giving a big middle finger to the Sixers/Raptors/Rockets/Thunder/Cavs/Celtics/anyone who dared to dream in 2017/18.

Not really close on paper. They will flick the switch now and it will be lights out for Houston in 5 or 6 games

The game today was ridiculous. I only caught the first half but it made every other play-off game look like the NBL.

Big players making big plays, over and over again.

I fear the Finals will be a let-down compared to this series.

I can't be bothered starting up a new thread, the US supreme court are in the process of legalizing sports gambling on a federal level. It baffles me as to why they haven't opened it up earlier

Houston's iso offense was put under serious pressure by the warriors. They forced at least 4 shot clock violations I can recall. GS's team ball is harder to guard

A big 2nd half from the Celtics to go 2-0 up. LBJ can't win this on his own.

Question: Who is the GOAT? Probably deserves its own thread but there are too few people on the fern that take more than a passing interest in the NBA.

Arguments for MJ, Kobe or Lebron......and go!

@raznomore Lebron for me, longevity and consistency and all-round game. MJ retired, played baseball, d1cked around and then went to the wizards. Kobe was amazing but less well-rounded and was second fiddle to Shaq for his first 3 rings. Yes I know Lebron had Bosh/Wade at Miami but he was still the undisputed leader and go-to guy on all his teams.

Not directly basketball related but I really admire how LBJ is off the court, married his high school sweetheart, had a kid at 18, generally kept it all together despite crazy amounts of fame and money from an early age. Plenty of other people would've gone full Tristan Thompson at some point..

Bill Russell - 11 rings in 13 years including the last 2 as player/coach.

I'd go LBJ as well. I'm sure many would choose MJ, and while he was 6 for 6 with the Bulls, his teams didn't even make the finals in 9 other seasons. Lebron has taken some average teams to the finals when they had no business being there.

@tewaio by dicking around after baseball you mean won some ships???

I totally get the Lebron love. He's amazing and probably the best all round athlete that has played the game. But he aint the 🐐. Lebron is one of the worst flop artists in the NBA and this shit counts against him. In an era where less physicality is allowed hes walking around like hes broken his back from minimal contact. Also Its a contentious issue, playing out right now as well, but Lebron does not consistently evelvate the ability of those players around him. This season, at the beginning, the Cavs were still a high quality team after losing Irving. Not a super team but very high quality. The pieces didnt fit and trades were made. Hes having to put it all in his back and no one is going with him. This was a team that could win but they aren't, he is. You can totally argue that these 2 aspects of his overall persona should not detract from his claim to the throne. I think they do.

Kobe was an MJ clone and thats not an insult. You can not really put him in the conversation for 🐐 because there were times when he was in his prime that he was not the best player on his team. He had the 80 game and "mamba out" and countless "Kobe" moments. It took me a long time to appreciate him and Im only just coming round to Lebron. Being an MJ fanboy can make you a bitter, bitter fluffybunny. to the point of ignoring amazing ability for fear your idol may be eclipsed.

That said if i was to have any player, play to save my life there is only one guy I would choose and its not White Mamba. Jordan had intangibles. Not just a desire to win and the ability to try an do so at all costs but the will to make it happen no matter what. You cant ignore that for the first half of his career it was a title free and Lebron was dragging his teams to the play offs from day one. Jordan was also an axe murderer posing an a basketball player. He was/is an amazing asshole when he wants to be as Steve Kerr can confirm. I saw him compared to Ty Cobb once and that is saying something. But again if I have to have one player play for my life he is the only one. He would win against Lebron, yes he would, and he would most certainly beat Kobe.

    Im 39 tbough so whatever...
