It needs to be illegal before the age of 18.

@no-quarter the irony is the fact they are wanting to not label them all the while pushing them toward a label that isnt mainstream so it appears they are uber-tolerant.

@canefan legal and admin costs would be better than a sorry.

So one assumes the whole process will start again with her not paying her next Bill?

Her outfit appears appropriate although the hat could be pointier, and a black cat peering out the window around a broomstick wouldn't be out of place.

@taniwharugby Yep. The rates bill would be a drop in the bucket compared to the legal costs and staff time this bitch has racked up with her bullshit.

One would hope that the council has had costs awarded and that they, the outstanding rates and any future rates will be included in the charge against the property. Hopefully with interest applying.

Court awarded full costs and compounding interest so you'd hope this is factored into the settlement

That's how her bill of a few thousand ended up as 36k

@canefan Is that true? If she didn't pay her rates for 11 years wouldn't the arrears have been more than a few thousand?

@jc you'd think so! if her rates were 2.5k that'd be 27.5k plus the penalty fees, I would have thought the final bill would have been higher with cumulative interest.

@taniwharugby She reckons her crusade is over so I guess that means she'll start paying again? She also mentioned that she's broke so it could go either way...

That article says they've registered a debt of $69K against her property covering the $34K in rates and presumably $35K in costs.

Close enough to call it a draw, Penny. 🙂

On the other hand, her house has doubtless doubled in value over the past 10 years, so it turns out she's a filthy baby-booming millionaire capitalist. If she hadn't wasted all that time and energy fighting City Hall she could have been having quite a nice time.

Handy to find out about that rates deferment mechanism.
