    Many would have the SW as the rounds top scorer too...

    This is probably the best article I've read on Australian rugby. It's a long one but well worth it.

    A lot of the points re NH transfers applies to NZ as well...

    Australian Rugby: How To Stop It Failing Upwards - Green & Gold Rugby

    It is 5 May 2018. Brookvale Oval is packed. The fans are on the hill, downing beers, excited to see their Waratahs play their favourite sport: rugby union. The scene looks great on tv again. This is Sydney’s north shore, one of the hot-beds of global rugby. Matt Burke is from here, so too Michael

    @barbarian

    World Rugby has refused to extend the residency window for international qualification from a ridiculous three years, with the result that Southern Hemisphere players are able to have their cake and eat it too: head to Europe and end up playing international rugby.¹

    Notes:
    1. We hear that the residency requirement will be extended to five years in 2021, but sceptics abound that this will actually happen. Why introduce the measure then, and not now?

    The author has clearly missed the news that WR has already decided to extend the residency rule from 3 to 5 years with effect from 31 December, 2020.

    With his last question about 'why ... not now', he also doesn't seem to understand that a player is no longer covered by the 3-year residency rule (and needs to have resided in a country for 5 years to be eligible for that country) if that player started their residency after 31 December, 2017.

    Hell of a long read , but well thought out and written.

    Ultimately, rugby is going the football model where all players are centralised in Europe on ridiculous money. And thats the way it's wanted by the power brokers, which are all basically in, Europe.

    Even though I don't like the Sunwolves, it's why they are in the comp. Richer nations need to be involved. I'm not really bothered if SA go up north to Europe myself, yes it will create a huge hole in the balance sheet that is going to be tough to fill, but it will create other opportunities in an exciting comp which will work over time.

    Folau setting homosexuals alight and Slipper selling illicit substances to children - what culture is Chieka driving in the Wallabies?

    :::

    Disclaimer for the litigious: The above claims are clearly parody.

    That is seriously impressive to test positive twice to a drug that leaves your system so quickly. You have more of a chance being caught in possession (Kiwis incident, Andrew Johns, JOC/Ali etc) than flunking a drug test.

    In hindsight having Bomber Thompson in for a cross-code consultancy gig last year looks to have backfired.

    I couldn't give a rats if players do cocaine. It's a matter between him, the police and his employer.

    Some people in NZ were whinging that Ali Williams was on the telly the other day. FFS, the guy seems like an absolute spanner, but he has a right to carry on with his life. it's different to someone like Veitch as well. Doing coke is basically harming yourself, but Veitch harmed someone else.

    Which high profile players have been caught on coke? Ali Williams, James O'Conner, James Harrison, Wendell Sailor...

    Trying to find a common thread here.

    Cracking game between The Reds and Tahs. Bit of inexperience from the Reds outside backs probably the difference. Well, that and Folau.

    Nice to see our handing skills and speed of execution have risen above "retarded water buffalo".

    Most importantly: our First Grade had their first win of the season a couple of weeks back, and the Club donated $6500 to the Kids Hospital in memory of a club member's little girl, who died of neuroblastoma earlier in the year. Not even 2, poor little mite.

    On Saturday we got done on the bell by a dropgoal. Fuck.

    good to see some points scored in the Aussie conference

    I did enjoy hearing Horan calling the 'tahs "clinical" completely ignoring the number of points they gave up.

    Brumbies scored a few as well, and the Rebels had a win in NZ, so Wallabies should have some players bouncing in to camp this week.
