The Interview
I thought this was going to be a pile of shit but I actually quite enjoyed it. Mindless comedy as per most Seth Rogan novies but some funny stuff in there, and anything that mercilessly mocks the NK regime is worth producing.
3 celebrity journalists out of 5 crying Jong-un's.
Thanks mate but we're talking Arnie. Can you keep on topic please? Cheers.
Why do you take movies so seriously........................................
..........................
I never got to see the Commando ones as a kid but did the Rambo so for nostalgia purposes, always Rambo for me.
In fact, perhaps I haven't even seen commnado in full? I certainly seem to recall all the quotes and snippets I see in here though.
Hmmm I wonder if it is on Netflix/Litebox etc?

Both are the twin pillars of 80’s movie fucking awesomeness.
Assuming I’m right ( I’m sure I am)
Which movie would cap off the perfect 80’s Arnie trilogy, Terminator?, one of the Conan’s?Terminator hands down.
No contest.

Which movie would cap off the perfect 80’s Arnie trilogy, Terminator?, one of the Conan’s?wow. I absolutely love Conan the Barbarian. Love it.
True Lies is 90s, but a fucking awesome Arnie movie. Red Heat? Terminator? Terminator 2? The Running Man? Total Recall? How the fuck do you choose out of those?

How would you seperate Commando or Predator if in a cruel world you had to chose only 1 to watch..
Commando every day for me. Predator is all sorts of awesome. But Commando is another level. Better lines. Better novelty deaths. Better bullshit. An off-the-charts body count. It has everything.
I would really miss Predator though. Like, a lot. Arnie was the fucking king
And fuck you Hooroo, Commando shits on any Rambo movie from a very great height.
Rambo is so shit next to Commando
Yep, especially Rambo 1. However IMHO Rambo 4 gets close to Commando. That is an epic farking flick. Just all out carnage.

You don’t, you just watch them all in their magnificent glory
Conan the Barbarian is fucken awesome ( had a bad ass James Earl Jones)
The Destroyer was a lot more camp and not as great -

All varying degrees of awesome but Terminator is still head and shoulders above.

That made me laugh.
Did Arnie's Kindergarten Cop and Stallones Don't shoot Mama(?) come out around that time too?

Anyone seen Eraser? That must be mid90s. I haven't seen it but iirc he shoots a crocodile in the head.

Yep. Oh christ the Stallone "comedies" were bad. Oscar! My God.
Tango and Cash was OK but that was action/comedy.

novelty deaths and post-death one-liners galore. I'm getting a chub just thinking about it
As long as you wait a few years before perving at Alyssa Milano I agree 100%
It was ok to perve at her at the time because she was a year or so older than me.
Commando over Predator.
Re: Beevor - what a pissy article. It shouldn't have been titled "great war movies", it should have been "great war movies, but only if they're as factual as a documentary like the French would make, but Brit films from the 50s and 60s are ok because because, but definitely not any American movies because uncouth Hollywood can't make a decent war movie".
He writes good easy readying history books (I don't always agree with his conclusions) but he's extremely pompous to listen to (I just listened to a podcast where he was talking about his book on Arnhem, interesting stories, worst plum in the mouth delivery ever) and clearly he's no fun at the movies.
-
Actually if you want to see "peak Arnie" I reckon Twins is the film to watch. Everything that made him the larger than life film star is in that film. He's just perfect. My kids were enraptured with him after watching that.

What conclusions don't you agree with?
What I kind of find a bit Meh is that this expert at war hasn't ever seen war at first hand. Not saying he doesn't have a right to critique films I'm just not sure if he's the guy to go to when determining authenticity.

I thought he was commenting on historical accuracy, like the fact that the US didn't singlehandedly win the war?

Yeah fair enough. Probably unfair criticism.
