Don't forget Jersey Girl or Gigi. Credit to his impressive comeback but imho he was never convincing as an action star and can't see him as Batman. This could be a Clooney debacle mark 2. -
<p>Watched a couple over the weekend:</p>

<p>The Frozen Ground - Based on a true story with John Cusack, Nick Cage and a couple other recognisable faces. Decent watch, Cusack is suspected of being a serial rapist/killer in a small Alaskan town, but his most recent victim escaped...</p>

<p>Fast and Furious 12 - was exactly what I expected TBH. Looks like Vin Diesel has slimmed down a bit, and the Rock bulked up!! The final scene which is fights and sh!t in an Airplane as it struggle to take off; well, must be one god damn long runway!! They must be making decent coin form the ongoing franchise, with yet another film in pre-production and Jason Staham making an appearance to the F & F team...</p> -

<p>Pain & Gain - WTF! Not sure how close this was to the actual story, but can only assume it cant be too far off as you couldnt make that sh!t up! SOme of it was seriously stupid, it was funny!!</p> -

<p>TBF though, he hasn't gone to Statham levels and he still appears in high profile movies. The guy makes most things he's in better at any rate.</p>

<p>Empire State was a weird one, looked like it wanted to be a gritty 70s style crime film but looked like a TV movie. Taking away the G Shock watch the Rock looked like he'd parachuted in from another movie at any rate ... his shaved head looked too contemporary, they'd have been better with him wearing a half fro wig like the hair he had in Get Shorty (or its sequel, I'm not sure). </p>

<p>I started watching Only God Forgives, the follow up movie to Drive by Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn. It took everything that was good from Drive, jettisoned it, then everyone involved disappeared up their own asses. I don't usually give up on movies but 30 minutes into this I decided listening to Radiohead with a sharpened razor blade near by would be a better way to spend my time. </p> -

<p>Watched The Conjuring. Seemed to be a mash-up of The Amityville Horror, Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist and The Birds. Pretty standard tale of demonic possession in a lonely old haunted house. Good effects and a few well telegraphed 'shocks', so all in all a good ol' fashioned horror yarn.</p>

<p>But why is only white Americans who get possessed and haunted?</p> -
<p>so yea, i made a mistake last night, and watched a movie called "Savages". Remember when the words "direct by Oliver Stone" meant something?</p>

<p>The "acting" is fucking terrible, even Benecio del Toro and Salma Hayek hamming it up can't save it. </p>

<p>Blake Lively gets fucked 3 times in the first half an hour, and didn't get her tits out once. That should have been my fucking warning.</p>

<p>The "screenplay" and "script" look like they were "written" by 20 year old stoner slackers as their big plan to get rich. I can almost imagine the conversation:</p>

<p>"man, you know what would be sweet? living in California growing the worlds best buds man, being, like, drug kings man"</p>
<p>"dude, that would be sweet <span style="font-size:10px;">bubble bubble bubble said through held breath</span> think of the money and bitches bro, and all the buds we could smoke"</p>
<p>"yea man, fully. And then, when mexican drug lords came to like, fuck up our shit, we could totally fuck them up"</p>
<p>"bro, we'd be good looking surfer-botanist-ninjas"</p>
<p>"fuuuuck that would be sick man"</p>
<p>"whoa, i just had a fucking sick idea. That would make a totally fucking awesome movie! we should fully write that shit man!"</p>
<p>"fuuuuck, that would be sweet. Lets fucking do it man. Give me another rip off that bong first though"</p>

<p>Now, i can only imagine the drugs actually taken at Universal Studios, to not only green light this project, but to get Oliver Stone to fucking direct!</p> -

Back in my day there would've been some great tits and we would've rewound and replayed the tape until it wore out (my mates did that with the local video store's copy of the Chuck Norris classic <em>The Octagon</em>, thanks to one shirt raising and bra-less scene). This does not bode well for the younger generation!<br>

There was some great car racing scenes and the story was a bit meh. It was directed by Ritchie Cunningham and had the feel of a movie Michael Mann might have made had he been able to make through puberty. I'd say wait for it to come out on dvd but the car racing scenes were great on the big screen.</p>

<p>Just saw this tonight and I'm not much of a F1 fan but I thought this movie was awesome, definately the best film I've seen this year. Just gotta get my old an to the theatre to watch it, would blow his mind.</p> -
