An aside: on a recent flight I watched *Three Billboards ... * and, because it was a flight, they dubbed out pretty much anything resembling offensive words.

Were you flying mn5 Airways? I haven't seen censoring happening on airline entertainment for at least a decade I reckon.

@nta when we flew to England I am pretty sure that was the only time my kids behaved like angels for more than 5 minutes, I couldn't believe it, model children for 26 hours, we had other parents saying your kids were so well behaved and polite (were 3 and 6)

Straight up some other guys bumhole yeah...

    Game of Death

Basically a bunch of fight scenes filmed by Bruce Lee before he died that a bunch of producers spliced together and turned into a terrible ( at least plot and acting wise ) movie. Some of the standins are just shocking but the final scene in which he has to take on one fighter after another ( including this awesome scene with Kareem Abdul Jabbar ) make up for it.

3.5 bad stand ins out of 5 real things.

Oceans 8 - Not as good as 11 and 13 but probably a wee bit better than 12. Probably needed Soderbergh to direct rather than just produce as it was a bit Soderbergh light. The pacing was a bit off and it dragged a wee bit in both the first two acts when it probably didn't need to. Anne Hathaway was pretty good in it.

It pissed me off at first, but then I really got into the poorly-matched voices for "fudge" and "shoot" and "mother-lover". I was re-dubbing it in my head on the fly and while my Woody Harrelson needs work, I think my Sam Rockwell was competitive.

I had the exact same experience - except the dubbing was good enough (or I was tired/stupid enough) - to not realise for quite some time what was happening... I thought it was just a deliberately hokey/cutesy dialogue, Coen-ish. And it kinda worked. When I realised it was dubbed over, I got distracted trying to figure out if actual cuss words would improve it or make it worse.
Malaysia Airlines, it was for me, I believe, @Bones.

@kruse I reckon Emirates and other Muslim country services would be the same. And Fijians are very shy and polite.

What would be Etihads excuse then?

Black Panther - decent movie, obviously hyped through the roof as a groundbreaking film or something like that,

Never seen much of Black Panther before in terms of comics so didn't know the background of the Wakandans.

@taniwharugby Yeah I watched that the other night. The visuals were pretty good and all but it didn't really hit the spot for me. Maybe too many characters vying for your emotions but not enough depth to any of them? I would drop half a Wakandan sunset off your score.

Fahrenheit 451 on Soho last night.

The IMDb reviews and rating (4.8) are brutal but this wasn't the turd I was expecting.

Perhaps its better if you aren't familiar with Ray Bradbury's novel.

Original movie or the HBO one?

I actually think the novel is pretty shit, love the concept and the world but the execution is average.

@nepia HBO version with Shannon and Jordan. I haven't read the novel or seen the original movie so have nothing to compare the 2018 version to. I wouldn't be in a hurry to re-watch it but it was OK.

Watched Hounds of Love (2016) recently.

Not an original plot - teenage girl gets abducted by a serial-killer couple and tries to survive - bit weak on plot in some parts but really well acted and written. Intelligent and anything but torture-porn

Unsetling to watch as the couple doing the abduction are portrayed as normal and elicit some sympathy while the disturbing parts can be quite visceral, they are left very much to your imagination a la Hitchcock.

Not spectacular but way better than most of this genre.

Took the boy to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on IMAX in 3D.

Asked him what he thought of the movie afterwards and his response was: "that was absolutely AWESOME!!!".

Have to agree, but when it comes to Dinosaur movies I'm pretty easy to please. The Indoraptor was pretty badass, and we are all set for plenty of carnage in the next movie - bring it on!

Note for parents: overall not too scary, just some moderately intense/thriller type scenes later on in the dark with the Indoraptor. My boy is 5 and was fine, but he's a bit of a bit of a nut when it comes to Dinosaurs, I think he roots for the Dinosaur a lot of the time.

4.5 dead billionaires out of 5 epic Raptor battles.

I'm with your son there. The amount of times I want the 'heroes' to die a gruesome death only to be saved at the last minute infuriates me sometimes.
