Who does the TSF want to Win? Aus vs Ireland

@kirwan Sorry but I just can't agree with that analysis.
If we were giving away indisciplined penalties in the last 15, fine. But we weren't.
The Irish defended bloody well and we just needed to be a bit more patient than we were. That's rugby - most of our errors were forced by good Irish play.
I think blaming Cheika for that is a stretch. I get that most of you don't like him, and that's fine. He certainly has his flaws, but I actually think his selection and tactics in this series has been a big improvement on how we've approached similar games in the past.
The man we missed in the late stages was Genia. Halfback is the most underrated position in the game IMO, and we had a 12 year old out there at the most crucial time, and he made some bad errors.
There is plenty of blame to go around, like any loss. Cheika certainly deserves some, but I think in this instance he's lower on the list of people who I would point to.
I didn’t mention penalties, I mentioned being flustered and lacking composure. Foley threw a pass that wasn’t on, if you kept possession I think you win the game.
That’s what I’m criticising Chieka and your senior players for lacking.

But they had the composure to stabilise after the Sexton penalty, win the kick-off and build to a point where they were within striking distance.
It was one bad pass by Foley, sure, but I don't think that makes us a 'rudderless mess' nor should it lie at the feet of Cheika.

@rapido You can see Folau is concerned with the welfare of O'Mahony since Stander clearly doesn't. Hence why he's attempting to ensure his careful descent.
-
@rapido with still images like that it provides clear irrefutable evidence that Folau is a cheat

To be serious. The gif I took the stills from has a big gap between the frames.
It's from: http://cdn.thejournal.ie/media/2018/06/click-here-if-you-cannot-view-the-clip-above-230.mp4

The seems to be some green folk crawling out of the woodwork on the board today.
Really? Like who?
I'm nearly half Irish on mum's side. Definitely balances out the Scots side and isn't much help in terms of getting a golden tan.
Also I fucken hate BOD as mentioned above but he's retired now ( without a win against the ABs )
Fuck it, move over plenty of room for me on the bandwagon.
C'mon IRELAND!

I think you're in good company there.
Hate to say it but one of my fondest rugby memories is that of BOD's face at the end of the 2013 AB-Ireland test in November 2013.

Yep. He could have died.

It would be good to get a better video to get the stills from, as in the first still POM looks like he is going to be in a terrible position to catch that. It's already going over his head and he's stretching backwards.
Still think Folau will go down for this though.

You should have seen O'Driscoll's face...
I actually felt for the rest of the Irish team that day. They were bloody magnificent in Chicago - thoroughly deserved that win and sense it made up for the last minute loss in '13

In each incident Folau pulls down on PO'M.
Thinking of possible 'mitigation' after the precendent set last week that his lawyers could argue. Teammate Stander has a bigger bearing on PO'M's legs getting taken out from under him than teammate ALB did on Fall. But ..... twice he has tugged or pulled downwards on a guy in the air.
On a brighter note, how fucking good is Folau's leap? He can jump as high as a guy being lifted.
If a law-tweak outcome of this is no lifting in rugby, anymore, get Folau into the lineout!

I’m sure it did. ‘13 gutted them.

It looks bad with that arm, but I'm not sure where else he was supposed to put it. Plus just looking at that, the arm doesn't appear to be the reason that he fell that way. Certainly it was the contest, but that looked fair to me.
My biggest issue is that he appears to take out the lifter.
-
Some better stills using a desktop.
(apologies for the big funk-off play symbol in the middle ......)

-
It doesn't look good, and he might cop a ban.
I still think the lifter makes the end result far worse, as he acts as a fulcrum for POM. If that's a regulation contest without a lifter, I don't think it ends with POM on his head.
As it was, Stander stabilises POM which exacerbates the impact of the minor contact he receives, and then instead of merely being pushed back he flips over completely.
It can't be treated the same way as a regular 1v1 contest for the ball. You can certainly penalise Folau for the contact, but I'm not sure you can ban him for how it ended up.
-
I was surprised Henshaw didn't get a yellow for is head high tackle on Folau. At the 1:43:31 mark.
@akan004 it's cos the Oirish have the officials in their pockets!
