The Toronto Star was the newspaper that saw and broke the crack video story.

Ford has been telling anybody and everybody the past six months that the Star are liars, and he's been at war with them for years.

Cue tomorrow morning's cover story...

Now that's some pretty effin' huge font size!
-

Adding... obviously he's great fodder for comedy, so it's easy to overlook that video is connected to drugs, extortion, one murder, two additional knife attacks, evidence tampering, hacking scandals... and maybe more... and we still haven't heard the real (possibly sordid, let's hope!) reason he was fired as a high school football coach. Rob Ford, Whadda Guy!

The crazy thing about this lasted unhinged rant (fueled, one suspects, after inhaling the smoke of small burning white crystals) one is puzzled to know if he was rehearsing a promo to cut on Hulk Hogan (they arm-wrestled for charity, and Ford was the victor -- funny) or if it was about one of the guys who was, ummm, actually murdered (not so funny).

These magazine covers tomorrow (the first is Canada's national news magazine; the latter is Toronto's weekly arts/news magazine) are too good not to share.

I love this guy. It's like Tommy Boy saved his Dad's company in the nineties and then entered politics.

His dad was played by Brian Dennehy, and now that you mention it, Ford does bear a striking resemblance to both men, a combo.
-

Metro suburbanites who live in houses w/ two-and-three car garages and don't want to spend a dime on the homeless in the core and couldn't care if it turned into a shithole, those voters are mostly conservative, and all Ford seems to care about politically is low property taxes, so they love him. (Previous mayors when the city was smaller and more concentrated were mostly leftist.) The needs and priorities of people who live in the city and those who live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) are at odds (and let's face it - hardly anybody votes in municipal politics). Should give pause to proponents of city amalgamations who believe expanding territory means bigger is better.

Now,. to answer your question about wealth, yes, he does come from wealth, but it's less the blue-blood version and actually a lot fuckin' closer to a Tommy Boy blue-collar version. Ford's father started a company that produced plastic grocery bags, or something like that, and became a success, making about a hundred-million dollars a year. Tommy Boy and his brother became city councilors, and like a tag-team divided & conquered city-hall and the voters.
-
