i played last weekend for the first time in ages, and was quite prepared to suck. I cracked my first tee shot to the middle of the fringe, 10 from the pin, and thought "fuck, maybe it's my day" 2 chips and 3 putts later and the tone was set. my first and second shots were good, but i chipped and putted like old people fuck. terrible.

My golfing and fishing weekend last week was brilliant. I won the Tuakau Cossie club fishing comp on saturday with the biggest snapper ,4.1kg, then got the 2nd and 3rd Kawai-$750 in prize money.
 On Sunday I played golf at the Waiterimu gc and won a hamper with a 69 net (3rd in the intermediates) with 6 x 3 puts
heavy alcohol consumption on both days and a very pissed off missus as it was a very selfish weekend but quite enjoyable.
This weekend playing dad to the kids.

Have to go to the Counties Races this weekend instead of going to the beach. :(

I will likely get in a few rounds over the next couple of weeks as the mother-in-laws partner is over from the UK and he likes to hit the course (and the 19th) so I will end up playing more golf in the next 2 weeks than I have all year!

Haha, that he does, he is in Wellington at the moment, not sure if he is going to stop in at Vegas on the way back up as the guy who he has stayed with, one of his parents has been ill.

Started shit, ended up hitting the ball well though, just putted like a fluffybunny! 39 putts!

Nice one. Was a great day for it. 
No time to get out this weekend for me but did manage to pick up a new 3 wood - callaway razr fit extreme with the aldila trinity stiff shaft. Launches pretty nicely and will be my go to on those tight tee shots

played Kerikeri today, was a nice surprise to get a MOnday green fee special, $20.
 
Dotgolf hasnt put my score in yet, shot 80 (par 73) 44/36
 
Hit 2 fairways, 10 greens and 35 putts, missed 3 birdies inside 5 feet. 36 holes now and no birdies!
 
Of one of the fairways I hit, was the 17th, a 460 odd metre par 5, plying slightly up hill and into the wind, smoked my drive 275m, then hit a 4 iron 185m to about 6 feet, eagle!
 
Below is the view from the ideal spot to play your 2nd on the par 5 3rd at Kerikeri (big dogleg) sadly, that was my provisional ball in the pic, my 1st 1 I found about 20 yards further on, and 50 yards left...is probably about 70 or so metres elevated there, possibly 90 from the tee.

I just wish one day I could learn to putt!
 
Oddly I was hoping I'd have a big score to get my handicap out, but I think that is <.5 over my handicap up there, not to mention the last 7 holes I was 2 under and shoulda been 4, FFS! I hit pretty poorly truth be told, so am still trying to work out how I managed 80 round there, even in my heyday 78 was my best round there, but I'll take it!
 
That is a pond at the bottom of that hill, which is where my 2nd shot ended up, but as it is about half full, I played out of it without getting wet!
 
we havent had rain here for almost 3 weeks (and even then was only a decent downpour to break up a couple of weeks of no rain prior to that) and been bloody hot, am praying for the promised rain to arrive!
 
Loads of sun screen and going to shady spots, plus my mother in laws partner likes to fill the bag with beers for the round... :)

haha, fair enough...I should be happy given how little I have played, but I guess it is about how I play more so than the actual score.
 
kinda like when I got my hole in 1, I wasnt happy at all with the shot, was looking beyond the green for the ball...but like my golf coach used to say, "there aint room on the card to write the story of how you got the score, just the number" luckily, otherwise I'd have a novel from today :)

We're not going down this year as we have too many yearlings of value that we will want to keep an eye on over this period and also tightening of belts means it's easier to work the stats than pay double time etc.
 
Will just be going to Whangamata from the 20th to the 29th and popping back to the farm to keep an eye on things. (I'm back at work on the 4th I think)

Gutted mate! I'm down from 23rd til 2nd and then back here but not back to work until 20th so plenty of time for golf and fishing. 
So in that case, do you have recommendations other than rangiora? Kaiapoi looks cheap and cheerful but what about Pegasus? Worth shelling out the $ for?

so it took me 45 holes to make a birdie!!
 
Shot a 79 round a par 71 today, 3 birdies in the end, 36 putts, after 2 birdies in a row I 3 putted the last 2 holes.
 
I cant recall hitting the ball so poorly off the tee before, just no idea where the ball is going, my usual stock shot of a draw is nowhere to be seen...luckily my mid to short irons are pretty good, getting me to the green to 3 putt!
