Happening for a long time - many Bond films for example were hardly the portrait of a cold, womanising psychopath...

About the only book to movie that I think got the character completely right (in my head) was The Power of One. The Godfather did pretty well too - maybe with the exception of Fredo who's not a complete wuss in the book.

That movie sucked though [the schoolboy version of PK was good too.], I actually liked the book though. The ones that came after, meh.

Then saw the DVD on sale a few years ago so bought it. One of the worst movies I've ever watched.

I can only imagine how badly the sequel would have stunk if they had decided to film it , I thought they'd have to tone down some of the more graphic aspects of the book for the film but it there wasn't a lot left of the book in the end.

Wonder Woman confirmed. When you add in the villain(s) I wonder if they are in danger of crowding out Superman from his own film with Batman, Wonder Woman and they have to do something with Lois in the film as well.

And there are rumours of Nightwing and Flash cameos as well.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. It was a promising beginning too, I really liked the whole alien slant on Superman. But this director is firmly in the more is more camp, looking at his previous films.

I liked the movie and the book, but I liked the second book better - until the end, Courtney couldn't write endings. The movie was changed heaps from the book though - but the characterisation was spot on.

I have watched the first 10 minutes of Flight - I assume you mean that part ;), yep, still Mendes, easily.

She gets bonus points from me for having a landing strip which was very appropriate for an stewardess. It's a draw for me at the moment.

Hobbit 2 premiered the other night. There's a review embargo, but whispers are that critics are liking it a lot more than the first installment. If rumours can be believed in the era of Sonny Bill, this is encouraging news.

I'll be poor as fuck once I move house, so I'll burn what I can as soon as I can. After all, it's only a matter of time before the wife buys another round of toys or shit for the kids

One of the slightly cool things about where I live is that we have a restored 30s art deco cinema in the town. It celebrated its 9th birthday last night and celebrated with a mystery movie.

Sadly it wasn't the Hobbit 2 but turned to be a pre-release of Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty instead - and it was actually alright.

Stiller's daydreaming nerd works in Negative Assets at Life Magazine, hoping one day he'll get it together with a girl at work. The rest is a very silly (but enjoyable) real-life adventure.

It's not til January I think, but if you need a date night movie with your significant other, it's worth checking out.

Finally got round to watching Flight after Jegga talking up one part of it ;).

Was an interesting movie, on the one hand seems to be a movie about a plane crash but on the other hand is a movie about alcoholism. Denzel was good playing a pretty unlikeable character and Don Cheadle put in his usual good performance. John Goodman was nuts.

There was a few different threads to the story, his fucked up relationship with his wife and kid, him trashing his fathers legacy through drink and denial of what what going on there, the fact that he obviously was a talented pilot but manage to trash that too etc etc. Cheadle just seems to get everything right in the characters he plays, just subtle little things that make him so good , he'd make a briscoes ad worth watching . Goodmans character was great, shame he does so much rubbish in between the good films.

Oh and Nadine got naked for the first [and hopefully not the last] time on film.

Watched the Second of the Hunger Games movies last night. It's kinf of piqued my interest in it now as I found the first movie and most of the second movie thoroughly depressing (probably due to the thought that Humans "could" evolve into some world like this) but at the end of the second movie it made me want to watch the third

Saw Hunger Games 2 (The Hunger Continues) a couple of days ago and still making my mind up about it. Like the first movie it tries to follow the book word for word (instead of using the book for 'inspiration') but the second book itself was nothing more than a transition into the third book. The actress playing Johanna Mason tried a little too hard tbh.

Was that what it was called. How many books are there? I haven't read any of them. That movie did seem like a transitional movie for something bigger. I enjoyed it in the end.

The Counselor.

Stellar cast and a story by Cormac McCarthy (No country for Old Men, The Road) but just never seemed to gel. It seemed like it wanted to be really deep about greed, lust and the human condition but was really just a movie about the drug business. Oh and lots and lots of talking. Really, loads of big, clever dialogue because, y'know, it's written by Cormac McCarthy.

There are some notable bits, mostly when a Ferrari California literally gets fucked, plus a particularly graphic assassination, but ultimately it's all a bit cold.

That's what I called it but its real name was Catching Fire (the last is called Mockingjay). There were 3 books and although for teens, a pretty fun read. Recommend all three books to even the most blokiest TSFer.
