Yeah actually I kind of agree with you on breaking bad Neps. Watching it all in one go kind of gives it less impact...

Yay, someone agrees with me, I'm being shunned like a leper amongst my TV watching friends!
-

Oh don't get me wrong, breaking bad is the best ever, although maybe shares top spot for me with generation kill. And just to rub it in...the wire...what's that?

:ireful:

Although, good to see you rate Generation Kill up there, classy follow up to the GOAT TV show* by Simons. I haven't watched Treme yet.

*That is the answer to your question.
-
I.never watched BB in.more than 1 Series at a time so.can't comment, but TBH given.most shows are played with a break of a year it is understandable story lines might not stand up when watched back to back.

I usually have few weeks breaking between series I watch in sucession (X Files and Battlestar Galactica) to prevent boredom regardless of how good a series might be -

I actually watched Battlestar all the way through aside from a week long period between 3 - 4 when I needed to track down S4. I watched Generation Kill in less than an 24 hours I think. I watched until late and then got up and started again. Hmmm, I really needed to get a life back then.
-

I watched the first season of 24 (when it was good) in one weekend about 10 years ago or so. The only shows I have binge watched recently are the Netflix ones (House of Cards, Arrested Development, Orange New Black) and that was mainly to try and avoid spoilers from all the other dickheads binge watching and then spewing spoilers left and right.

-

BSG all the way through is hardcore, especially if you watch it correctly with all the webisodes, and the two movies (Razor, The Plan) as well. Add in Caprica and Blood and Chrome and it is madness.

-
I haven't watched the movies, are they worth it?

Now that I think about it, I watched X Files start to finish as it was on The Box at 2230 every night until it was done...I watched BSG earlier this year I think. -

Razor was released after season 3. It follows the story of Pegasus before (and after) it meets up with Galactica. Viewing order nerds say it should be watched in the middle of season 2.

The Plan looks at the events that led to the start of the war from the perspective of the Cylons. It was released after the show ended.

Both worth a watch. I think both have Director's cuts with an extra 20-30min. See if you can grab those versions

Yeah I didnt realise the existance of the movies until I had past those points, so didnt bother watching at the time

-

I need to log off this thread ASAP, as I am starting to get an itch to watch the entire BSG run again. That would seriously screw up my Christmas holiday vacation free time.

I have been using some of my free time to check out some of the stacked up recordings of 2013 new shows on my DVR. I still think they are all mostly crap. The ones that got the most traction with the general public are mostly meh to me. (Blacklist, MAoS, Mom, Millers, Sleepy Hollow)
-

I must be better at avoiding the dickheads - I still haven't watched all of Arrested Development (which is weird as I watched the original 3 series while traveling) and the others weren't spoiled for me.

I binge watched both of the first series of Lost and Heroes but over a few weeks.

TR - the movies are pretty good, you may as well watch them to be complete and since you are a big BSG fan. I only got through about 15 minutes of the pilot of Caprica but I quite enjoyed Blood and Chrome, it was a pity it didn't make it to a full series.

I haven't started watching anything new as I've been waiting for your recommendations all year and they haven't been forthcoming ;). I've also found I've started diverging from Alan Sepinwall in TV taste as well ... when I used to just watch shows he reviewed because 98% of the time I enjoyed them. :(

However, I am catching up with two unfinished series as we speak - Deadwood and the Shield. Annoyingly with the Shield I need to rewatch the early series as I can't remember them to well as I actually watched the on broadcast TV it was so long ago.
-

The guy whose taste I shared (well mostly) is Matt Roush from TV Guide. He introduced me to shows I probably wouldn't have watched in years past (like Veronica Mars, Season One of Gossip Girl etc). I also used to watch a lot of what Tim Goodman used to a few years back. The problem is both guys moved around a few times, sometimes behind paywalls, so I kind of lost track.

-

Speaking of BSG, Ronald Moore's new show Helix premiers on Syfy Channel on January 10th. It could be good Or very preachy and bad.

-

well I'll add them to my 'to watch' list, which is actually getting pretty long now, despite the down-seaosn

-

for fans of Sherlock, there was a 7 min webisode on Christmas Eve set in between the end of the last series and the new series

-

watched new episode of Sherlock.
Showed how he did it, which TBH was pretty easy really, and when broken down, you can see it wasnt quite as hard to pull off given he was only trying to convince Watson, which is the odd bit really.

Am assuming MOriaty also faked his death too.
-

While flicking through the channels today I came across 28 Up South Africa on Al Jazeera. It's that show where they follow people every 7 years of their life. One of the people was Willem Alberts. In the original show, 1992 I think, he was an indoctrinated little racist claiming he'd beat up any black kids when they integrated his school. Thankfully in 7 years time he was rightfully calling himself an idiot. Also, how lucky were the producers in picking a Springbok to follow at age 7?

Also, recently watched Rectify a show about a guy released from Death Row when DNA puts his conviction in doubt. I thought the central idea/narrative, whatever you want to call it, was good and which was why I kept watching it. But, it is 'arty' as fuck to the point where I wanted to go outside and punch a fedora wearing hipster. I can do without 30 seconds of staring at the clouds ... you made your point at 10 seconds of staring.

Good show, I'm keen to see how the story plays out but hopefully they reign in the artiness of it in season 2 (although I expect they wont since it's on Sundance).
-

Yeah Rectify was an odd one, it just meandered along rather than the explosive moments many series rely on, but was just enough bubbling under keeping you watching
