The Rapture. Excellent exploration/parody of fundamentalist christianity. Outstanding opening sequence.

Don Jon: Joseph Gordon Levitt (star and writer/director) with Scarlett Johaanson and Juliane Moore. Jon is a Jersey stud who pulls chicks every night but when he's done the business goes and watches porn, and in between times he's watching porn and masturbating and when he's not watching pron and masturbating he's thinking about it and telling his priest at confessional. Scarlett is his latest missus (no nudity sorry M4L) who is hot but annoying. Moore is a weird lady in his college class. It was weird and will play well to the art house/festival crowd, but I also thought it was bloody predictable. Gordon Levitt is a pretty good actor and Scarlett looks good but it wasn't much of a movie. 
 
I'm 0-2 for good movies in the last two nights! Grrr.

I just don't find pale attractive (not in a race way but in a colour way) ... I always thought McAdams was hot pre boobies, but I guess I just imagined her with a tan all the time! ;)

Ha, I watched Don Jon last night too....was a bit of an odd one alright and reckon they shoulda cast Diane Lane as the older chick....Moore looks lije she is ready to burst into.tears at any moment. 
I didn't realise Scarlett was in.the movie and said to the wife the chick looked a bit like Scarlett...oh how I laughed.

Don Jon was just OK for me. Was bored to death by The Butler, and have Fruitvale Station on tap to watch next. My favorite movie of 2013 so far is still Rush. It was bloody great.

Was going to check out Don Jon. I have Julianne Moore in the same category as Tilda Swinton, i.e. terrifying to imagine waking up next to. Tony Danza play the dad doesn't he?
 
The Butler is boring, Oprah character is an unlikable cow and for some reason they completely missed out the most decent president of his time in the White house -Carter .

The Rapture was shot in the 90's.. 
Watched Pain and Gain. Apparently Michael Bays best work. There are some things I liked, Tony Shaloub was fantastic as the hate able victim you'd love to fuck over yourself. The Rock is excellent, channelling but toning down so it actuall worked this time his character from Southland Tales. When he's coked up its incredibly believable....probably because he full to the gills of roids. 
Everyone else, star Mark Wahlberg included, are just there, in the background. Not really adding much else but going through the motions. 
Michael Bay is a horrible director. It was really just Bad Boys without Will and Martin and Tranformers with Robots. Thankful for the unearthing of Bar Paly...look her up!

Robbery (1967) - Heavily fictionalised account of the great train robbery. Good movie, good fun. Directed by Peter Yates (Bullitt, The Friends of Eddie Coyle).

I watched "Lawrence of Arabia" again last night. Best of the "epics" i reckon, a stunning movie.

watched Gravity last night, was keen as I'd heard some good reviews, but was left a bit disappointed, although TBH, I think a movie like that was as good as it was ever gonna be.
 
One thing that had me a little confused;

Check out The Massage, basically spends the entire movie with them out and they are an impressive sight

They were never really motionless, they were always travelling in some direction even when attached to satellites (that were also moving).
 
I thought that was a great film, about as good as you can do that idea.

Actually, had a thought, did you watch this on the big screen/3D or at home? Would not be as impressive a film on a TV, the visuals are the third main character.

On TV...I agree, it was as good as they could have done with the idea, not that I didnt like it, more a solid 6/10 for me.

Have a read through that when you're bored at work. I'm not sure of the guys accuracy though.
 
[spoiler]The next big physics gaffe is when George Clooneyâ€s character has to let go to let Sandra Bullockâ€s character live. The idea is that their joint momentum is too much for the parachute lines sheâ€s got her foot in. The formula for (linear) momentum is just mass times velocity, so it is true that the two of them together have roughly twice the momentum that one of them would have. But as shown in the film, she seems to have already pulled the parachute lines taut and stopped their joint forward velocity. There is really no reason to let go at that point. But this is a case where we canâ€t get too nitpicky. Clearly, you can imagine what they were going for, even if it wasnâ€t perfectly achieved in the visuals. And the characters have to have some time to say their goodbyes. So we have to allow a little dramatic license.
