That’s a hellava win for us. A top 8 side at their deck and it was done with defence(ish)

Yep, a great effort in the end. The Dragons had everything in that last 25 minutes but could do fuck all with it. First Warriors win there since visit #1in 1996.

You may thank me any time.

      Especially you Jinxie McJinxpants @mariner4life

PS. Kinda coolish at 4pm. About 22 deg. Not a breath of wind and not a single cloud.

      Fuck I hate Queensland.

Thurston is a fucking champion. He's doing everything he can to get the Cowboys over the line against the Roosters. He's going to be sore in the morning.

And falls short. Roosters defended for their lives for the last half an hour.

Big time win in Wollongong especially when this seals it:

          link text

          Boomfa!

Impressive when it mattered: It was a gritty win but fuck it, it was win! Besides the two Fusitua fuck ups in a five-minute span, the Warriors stifled St George for the rest of the game and when an opportunity was handed to them, in the form of a Matt Dufty sinbinning, they actually took advantage of it with three tries.

The real MVP: Without a doubt it has to be Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Nearly 240 metres running, a try-saving strip on Tim Lafai, and several sidesteps that led to large first tackle gains for the Warriors. Other mentions are Jazz Tevaga (56 tackles), Gerard Beale and Adam Blair.

What about the other guys?: The St George attack is controlled through Gareth Widdop and he was shut down completely by Gerard Beale for much of that game. Besides two rare Fusitua errors the Dragons struggled to execute in the red zone. Was it the Warriors jam defence? Or St George's playmakers not being on par? Probably a bit of both.

Another hoodoo down: The Warriors have been very good at collecting hoodoos over the years but this season's roster has broken a few of them. Can't beat Thurston twice in a season - beat him twice in a season. Can't win in Perth - won in Perth. Can't win in Wollongong - won in Wollongong. The trip to WIN stadium has been a red marker in the Warriors' season where you knew they wouldn't be victorious. I seriously thought they would lose in a grinder instead they got two vital points.

The curse of Cleary: One major hoodoo remains: making the playoffs after the departure of Ivan Cleary which was over seven years ago. Cleary's Wests team is the last pony chasing the pack and are showing signs of a Warrior-esque surge towards the finals which was common in Cleary's tenure at Mt Smart.

Looking ahead to the last 4 rounds, plenty of reasons to be optimistic the Warriors can go up the ladder.
For a start heres their last 4 games before the finals.

            Rd 22 - Home vs Knights (11th)
            Rd 23 - Away vs Bulldogs (13th)
            Rd 24 - Home vs Panthers (5th)
            Rd 25 - Home vs Raiders (10th)

Those are the teams current positions, obviously they will change as each round is completed.
Also the Warriors havent been winning at home as they should be.

Also positive is that alot of the current 7 teams above the Warriors will be playing each other, given how spots 5 - 8 are only separated by 2 points theres plenty of time to swap places. (though points differential is against them)

The Broncos have a tough run in with 3 of their last 4 games vs top 8 teams, with a number of other top 8 teams facing off.

Stupid prediction time, think we will finish 6th

@virgil very winnable games with the Panthers the real test. Our points diff isn’t as bad as I thought given we’ve been on the end of a couple of hidings. It really is amazing to think that we are below .500 at home but have the best away record in the comp! Strange season

Yeah the congested table shows if we won a couple of games that we should have ( sharks few weeks back, Titans the other week) we could have been in the top 4
Looking through the remaining draw there’s a few banana skins for teams in the top 8
Need some upsets to really help our cause too

The run in means little to me. This is the warriors we're talking about; we could win them all win none

Probably another player revolt. He suffered a similar fate in Brisbane? Still odd to do it a month out from the playoffs.

Heard Nato talking to Andrew Voss this morning. Sounds like that player stuff kicked off earlier in the year, but perhaps has just hit critical mass. Voss said he's tight with Gould and would back his judgement, but Gould has never shied away from doing whatever the fuck he wants, well that's how it seems at least!!

Maybe the tension between players and coach was helping them! they are doing pretty bloody well at the moment. Would be interesting if they suddenly turned shite for the rest of the season.

ps Ivan Cleary should stay well clear of any return to the Panthers imo - once burned by Gould is enough I think!!

The chat around Cleary going back to the Panthers keeps getting louder (Bennett isn't going).

I got back with an ex once, it was a terrible move.

I assume they only want Cleary to keep his son? that seems a move fraught with danger. Cleary isn't that good a coach.

However, if Cleary leaves the Tigers, is it any coincidence it is a couple of weeks after Farah rejoined the club?

@mariner4life I heard some NRL talking heads suggesting that Cleary would go back to Penrith but that's more Phil Gould getting mates in the media to put the pressure on Wests to give him up.

But the ball is still in both Ivan & Nathan Cleary's court.

I wouldn't if I was Ivan. Just do your own thing at Wests (where the club has handed him the full reins, unlike Penrith) and wait for Nathan to become a free agent in 2020.

well well. Anthony Griffen sacked by Penrith. A month from finals. What the actual?

                                    Phil Gould?

Basically. Saw an interview clip on Crowd Goes Wild, he basically said Griffen wasn't up to winning premierships.

That's pretty straight up from Gould, and probably a sugar coated version. Not a great reference for an outgoing coach though!

Not a bad career for a trackwork jockey!
