Spotify's algorithm is light years more advanced than Netflix's. How many times do I have to downvote Bollywood crap, woke disabled black lesbian dramas etc? "We thought you'd enjoy this". Well you thought fucking wrong.
Clearly Netflix shares algorithms with your Pornhub.

And after listening to Billy Corgan all yesterday arvo, all i listened to last night and so far today is the Pumpkins. God i love them.
Obviously Siamese Dream we have discussed a heap recently. Rhinoceros is my third favourite song of all time.
If you take the best parts of Mellon Collie it's fucking unreal, and i don't give it enough love. If i had to rank my top 10 Pumpkins songs, probably half of them are on that album. And it's so varied, you go from something sweet/sad like "In the Arms of Sleep" to a ripping heavy metal track like "Tales of a Scorched Earth.
Billy Corgan was a fucking genius

Guess how many times Spotify directs me to Radiohead? Every single time.
no idea aboot spotify but youtube is great for that, sending you to similar bands. maybe should get onto it, this $20 LP buying is getting to be a strain**. Can someone do a spotify primer for idiots?**
Radiohead, oh GOD, they drive me batshit insane, I just cannot hear a fuckign thign, kind of pisses me off because it should be my thing, miserable gits and some "inventive" synth rabbiting "oh man, OK Computer is the best album everrrr" but ffs it just goes plink plip moan moan mewl mewl end.
Free music ... or pay a bit each month and get more control over your music. On the paid versions you'll still be saving money on your LP buying (I'm assuming you mean electronically) you just wont own the LP and if Spotify disappears you'll have to go buy them anyway. Not all music is on Spotify but nearly everything is.
I even saw Radiohead live, because often seeing a band live is a different experience and makes you appreciate their music ... nope, still shit.

I pay for Spotify. Prefer the freedom.
I consider OK Computer to be one of, if not the, most over-rated albums of all time. It's not bad, but it's widely held up as one of the greatest albums to come out of the UK, certainly in the 90s. Fuck off. It's not even the best Radiohead album of the 90s (not that i expect many to agree the Bends is better).

@mariner4life Spotify is utter shit at directing me to music I actually like.
If there is a personal hell then mine will be: living in Palmerston North, the only sport is the Wallabies winning the Bledisloe Cup on a loop, the only books will be overrated classics, the only podcast will be made by the guy who makes the Teachers Pet, the only TV show will be The Bachelorette, the only movie will be Titanic, I'll only be able to get into the Politics section of the Fern, and the only music in existence will be Radiohead.
Guess how many times Spotify directs me to Radiohead? Every single time. Their algorithm or whatever is supposed to suggest similar music is fucked.
The rest of the post is completely redundant after that statement.

Stick to the record buying, the sound quality of spotify is shit.

I still use my 160 GB iPod classic when travelling/working. ~13,000 songs on there from my own collection rather than be force fed songs via an algorithm. At home I'll crank up the stereo.
You know you can choose what you listen to right?

It's worrying how much I agree with you about music. The Bends is easily Radioheads best. OK Computer was the start of their demise. Not a bad album, but not worthy of the love it gets.

Ha! After writing the last one ... finally a massive disagreement.
Gish was cool, Siamese Dream was off the fucking scale. Mellon Collie ... Meh. The arrogance to suggest there was 2 albums worth of music in there was off the scale. Some good songs, a couple of great ones, but overall some serious bollocks.
I never bought another pumpkins album after it.
As a final note, my flatmate from uni who was a hell of a musician, especially drummer, reckoned that Chamberlain is the best drummer of all time.

Their bass player was easy on the eye too
I'm a semi pro muso and I think your flatmate is extremely wrong

Fair play, I never agreed with him either.

Yes. I don't have Spotify myself but we've used it on my brother-in-law's phone at family get-togethers. Let's just say that their description of 80s rock or pop is all over the place.

In the arms of sleep
1979
Tales of a scorched earth
Through the eyes of ruby
XyuThat's fucking damn near perfect.
-
And i never bought another one either until Zeitgeist

I'll have to have a re-listen. I don't think I've put it on in at least 15 years.
Everytime I see it when looking for music, I don't even think about playing it .. which says a lot.

Sometimes even the best band feels the need to make a blues album ... but what if it's really good?
