I reckon our best back three is Rieko and BFA on the wings and Jordie at fullback. Last night's combination was poor.

I’ve said it before, I really struggle to see what the selectors see in NMS these days. He’s lost the spark.
IMO Alaimalo would offer way more.

NMS is basically going through what Cullen did. Once that speed goes there's nothing else to offer.

Umm ... was referring to the quote that he is "starting to look the goods as an impact weapon"...

Looks pretty accomplished in that role.

Wasn't referring to him starting a game at 10. Although frankly the hysteria about that is overstated. I personally would be quite happy that he would produce in a starter's role. Especially as he ain't gonna do that unless both BB and RM gone down. He's better than the fourth choice who is ... ummm ...

And he handled it quite well v France.

Ok 🙂 , well he was thrown in the deep end a bit as a starter before he was probably ready due to others being unavailable, I think now we are seeing his real value coming off the bench .

What we also have to remember, he hasn’t played a lot of 10 at the highest level , and he is relatively young . He should be able to round out that part of his game a bit more with more gametime at super rugby level.

Just rewatched the tries in a short highlights package. Some real touches of brilliance with passing and speed. Apart from Milner-Skudder's one. Christ, he had a quarter of the field in space, no one in front of him, and only managed to finally dot down right in the corner after being tackled short of the line. That should have been the easiest try ever and he made it look hard in the end.

Wait, what? ALB started as a prop!

"We were at the same club together. We were at Marist-Albion, growing up in Christchurch, and I was a prop and he was a first-five and we played together for about six or seven years," Lienert-Brown said after Saturday's 46-24 win over the Pumas.

"I was a prop and I got sick of doing forwards training so I moved to the backs. I started when I was about six and I made the transition when I was about 13."

So that was a decent enough match to watch after the cabbage that was the Warriors. I was doing well at not hearing the score (even though my three mates kept watching the game on one of their phones in the stoppages of play) until some dipshit with a pony tail loudly called out the score on the train when I was one stop from home. piston wristed gibbon.

So, we finally get to see what they see in the Tongan-Frizell - he had a cracking first half with the ball in hand running into holes. Although, I think that Tongan-Fifita will be sitting at home scratching his head wondering why a running wide blindside is now in vogue . I also think Akira will be sitting their thinking yeah I could do everything that guy did if they gave me the chance. At any rate, at least we know he can attack and tackle when he gets more than 10-20 minutes cameos.

@taniwharugby What is weird is that Ratpoo is fluffing someone that Hansen likes, he's usually the contrarian, I actually fear his comments may have doomed him now after his good showing. What we do know is that Tony Johnson was clearly under instructions to wax lyrical about him anytime the ball went remotely near him or there was a stoppage in play.

I hope BBBR is fine. I thought Ardie had a decent game doing all the stuff people complain about him for. Goodhue had another good one too and ALB was carving up in attack at points. Mo'unga had an ok debut, not the second coming as we've been told to expect, but not poor. Good to see TTT get some gametime and look the part. DMac is a bloody good sub to come on.

That Argie winger Moyano was awesome in that first try. I was wondering why Cordero wasn't there as he's generally class but Moyano was great. Weird that the Argies looked best when playing a wider game when I thought they'd be hitting us up the middle which has worked successfully in parts for them in the past.

Edit: What was the poster @Gumboot banned for?

@nepia it's little wonder Frizell struggled for 80 mins of test rugby, has he even played 80 mins of any rugby this season?

Is that the first 80min shift Ardie has put in as well? One of his better games for the ABs

Still probably more knowledgeable than most rugby writers.

Huh, I didn't say anything about him struggling for 80 minutes (double checks his post to make sure - or do all the negative comments about him just automatically get attributed to me now 😉 ). Looks like it's only Ardie's 3rd ever 80 minute test.

@rancid-schnitzel nah he can't even make the bench when the ABs have a club standard player on the wing.

Him at Goodhue tore it up as 12 and 13 for Canterbury. He's not a 13 but as far as I know had never played there before Boyd threw him in. I still maintain it's his best position although I'm more than happy to keep the backline used against Australia. Thought the Laumape Goodhue pairing worked very well. What I liked about Laumape was that he ran hard and straight the entire game. He was taken down in the first half but eventually the effort needed to tackle the square shaped freak was too much and he started carving up. Imagine having to mark and tackle that for 80 minutes!
