I didnt think Redford did that much wrong actually. Found it a pretty good exposition on man's determination to survive. Obviously they had to take dramatic licences otherwise it would have been a 2 minute film.

Yacht hits container EPIRB is activated Yachtie is rescued tout f@cking sweet isn't much of a narrative after all. Other than that having been in a couple of big blows I found it a bit too close to the bone.

End was a f@cking cop out though. Old guy battles pointlessly to live one week would have been much more satisfying.

I guess with no dialogue it is tough to know what he has or hasnt done, but like most events that lead to something like that need some seemingly poor decisions to be made, not to mention he remained far too clam for pretty much the whole movie, I'd expect plenty of shouted expletives to vent!! :)

As for sailing on your own, jeepers, no thanks, must have to be very strong mentally.

Woulda been gut wrenching seeing those container ships!

Yeah the end was a massive cop out!
-

Watched Man of Steel last night.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

I loved it, but I have alwasy loved Superman movies.
-

Andrew Fagan from the 80s band the mockers who does a radio show with his partner Karen Hay has done a couple of solo round the world trips, I was pretty surprised when I found out about that. Apparently he smoked Russel Coutts in age grade comps a few times too.

This was an awesome book and I hope the movie is as good http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460766/

I thought it was pretty poor ... I actually liked the previous one better. Then again, aside from The Avengers I struggle to enjoy superhero movies these days, they're all a bit same-same to me, so maybe I'm not the best poster to be replying to this!
-

Really was looking forward to it, but ended up very disappointed with the logic/ lazy writing flaws. Didn't need the first 15mins either tbh.
-

Wow! I expected more of a reaction TBH.

I have seen Stripes, Ghostbusters,Animal House and Caddyshack hundreds of times each. This of course means there will never be another Ghostbusters movie, with original cast anyway. Probably sentiment aside for the best. No one wants to watch another Dan Ackroyd movie but Bill Murray and the rest of the cast offset by dislike of him so it probably still would have been cool
-

sorry, i would have posted, but i am in mourning. have been watching clips from Groundhog Day and Caddyshack pretty much all day

I've seen it and it's fucken weird. I saw the reboot too and that was also extremely weird.

Lots of animated sex and glam rock tunes. Now that I have been weed free for a number if years I doubt it would be as interesting as it was when I was baked. -

You are banned from talking about Superman films after this comment.

You preferred the movie where they made Superman a creepy stalker, gave him an annoying son, miscast Lois Lane and had a woeful lack of action?

It was more like Dawson's Creek than Superman. Only good part of the film was the plane scene, most likely as it wasny directed by Singer but SFX guys who had read a Superman comic.

Hooroo, MoS was a solid seven. Lost points for having supes kill (he doesn't do that) and the final battle being too long. The original take was treating him like an alien, obvious in hindsight but not normally how he's portrayed.

Well set up for a franchise if they don't screw the pooch with too many characters in the sequel. Afflecks co writer on Argo (fuck yourself) has just taken over head writing duties, so maybe Ben is trying to right the ship? -
