<p>that was awesome. The table saw at dads factory was always a little unnerving (from memory i think it was the last machine i was allowed to use). funnily enough i wasted my hands more on the bandsaw, drum sanders, drills, staple guns....</p>

<p>Not impressed tbh. Shoving a tuned corvette engine in a Lotus Elise is basically the same as an acquaintance who has a street legal Nissan Skyline which is a full second quicker than the Hennessey Venom GT over a 1/4 mile. Whoopee shit.</p>
    <p> </p>
<p>The engineering that goes into a Bugatti Veyron or McLaren P1, now that gives me tingly sensations in the pants.</p>

<p>Refs just let it go till someone hits the ice?</p>

<p>I'm no expert in the NHL judiciary, and for many years have laughed at it as a joke, but to answer your questions as best I can...</p>
    <div> </div>
<div>When the combatants square off, the refs stand back, lest they take one to the head. They'll wait and then move in to separate the fighters when they are exhausted or fall to the ice. </div>
    <div> </div>
<div>The fighters will get penalized minor penalties plus a game misconduct (meaning they have to take a shower), but will usually suit up for the following game.</div>
    <div> </div>
<div>There is an unwritten Law of the Jungle known as "The Code." If you think along the lines of the Queensbury Rules, you'll be close. Fighting usually means mano-a-mano, dropped gloves, and punching the face. That's A-OK as far as the hockey fraternity is concerned, and thereby not heavily policed. But if you have a third-man-in, or stick swinging, or kicking, or sucker-punching from behind, or jumping on top of a player once downed and pummeling his head into the ice -- you'll get heavy fines and game suspensions. </div>
    <div> </div>
<div>Considered much worse than fisticuffs by the league disciplinary are dirty plays -- the worst are boarding a players head into the glass, knee-on-knee hits, spearing (using your stick as a pike), and slew-footing (using your skate to take out another players skates). The league will hand down more severe punishments on those infringements than straight-out fighting.</div>
    <div> </div>
<div>"The Code" is mostly adhered to by the goons. Each team usually dresses a "goon" -- an enforcer -- to make sure other teams don't start the dirty play, or to exact revenge for deeds gone unpunished. Next to goalies, they probably have the most stressful jobs in hockey. If you have a good one, they are worth their weight in gold. </div>
    <div> </div>
<div>If you want to see the gentlemanly "brotherhood" between these goons, consider this absurd video below. The NHL implemented a new penalty at the beginning of the season that fighters could not remove their <strong><em>own</em></strong> helmets. So these two goons -- in a re-match -- found a loophole : they removed <strong><em>each others'</em></strong> helmet before commencing the slug-fest. You can hear the laughter from the spectators. Hilarious!</div>
