Brody in predators , yeah nah. Would have rather seen more of Fishburnes character.
Fishburn phoned that performance in. He was also ridiculously overweight for someone who'd been living in a cave for years. Was he eating Predator KFC?

@jegga I'm surprised you mentioned that movie without mentioning the nakedness of Charlize Theron - you're slipping.
Pacino probably should have won for a Godfather or Serpico.
He's (Brody) only in one series, the most recent one, so you're good to watch the early ones.
I’m not a Theron fan , so her nudity couldn’t rescue that train wreck.
I’ve watched up until where Cillian Murphys family are about to get arrested. Enjoyed the earlier seasons but it was getting a bit repetitive. Holy shit Sam Neill was good as the bad guy.
Oh, I think you're nearly up to the series he's in then?
I'm not much a Theron fan either ...
Her acting? I couldn't care less about her acting, although she was very good in Monster. She had to be, she wasn't gorgeous.

He probably ate his mates , it would have been interesting to find out how he managed to survive so long .
-
@rancid-schnitzel I got through about 15 minutes of Predator, then took a break and was going to come back to it and haven't ... that was in 2011.

Linda Fiorentino was robbed for an Oscar over the last seduction ,there was some technicality that made it ineligible.
It was an HBO (TV) movie wasn't it?
It was released to theatres too but being on hbo too made it ineligible.

Yeah, I think it was released on HBO first and they needed to go to cinemas first to be eligible.

@jegga Brody was the total cliche New York gangster in Peaky Blinders, certainly did it no favours!
I like Theron, although took me a few years to wipe the memory banks of her in Monster (where her acting was superb)

I was like that with Penelope Cruz, always liked her and then saw her in Blow and her character was awful, and she was not hot for me straight away, took a few years for me to like her again. Now that was some great acting deserving of an Oscar.
-
@taniwharugby I’ll definitely pass then , I liked it when they had more World War One stuff in it.

Dont rate Cruz at all!

Neither did I after Blow.
Man, we must all be adonis's to not rate these obviously attractive actresses

@nepia I mean I dont rate her as attractive...but then I am an adonis.
Yeah, that's what I meant, I found her character so awful in Blow that I stopped finding her attractive for a time.

@taniwharugby said in Re: Movie review thread...:
@nepia I think she is a pretty good actress but never found her attractive.
I’m sure she’s gutted to hear that

Her accent always annoyed me.

Godfather 1 Best actor went to Brando
Godfather 2 Art Carney in Harry and Tonto WTF - other nominees Albert Finney in "Murder on the Orient Express", Dustin Hoffman in "Lenny", Jack Nicholson in "Chinatown", Al Pacino in "The Godfather, Part II"
Godfather 3 - Pacino didn't get a nomination. Nominees were Jeremy Irons in "Reversal of Fortune" (winner WTF Pt 2), Kevin Costner in "Dances With Wolves", Robert De Niro in "Awakenings", Gerard Depardieu in "Cyrano de Bergerac", Richard Harris in "The Field"
Serpico Jack Lemmon in Save the Tiger WTF Pt 3 -other nominees Marlon Brando in "Last Tango in Paris", Jack Nicholson in "The Last Detail", Al Pacino in "Serpico", Robert Redford in "The Sting"
The Academy seems to have got it right more often in the 70's than nowadays but Pacino must have wondered what he did wrong to lose out to sentimental votes to ageing but respected actors two years running who held together non-descript films that pretty much tanked at the box office.
Serpico loses to an old guys sorry efforts to save his business via insurance fraud and the Godfather to an old guy who walks across America with his cat - getting consistently disappointed by his kids en route WTF Pt 4
