That final speech where he pulls on the mask ...

... what I described yesterday as "incoherently insane," now in retrospect looks eerily like he was telling us he was going to die. The public appearances the past three days were a godsend, but I wonder if it killed him? The WWE produced that DVD several years back that buried him, and it's been eating him since. He said as much in his Hall of Fame speech three days ago, he said it really hurt him. He wants the record rectified. He kept returning to the DVD and saying it was "just wrong," and thanking the fans for keeping his memory alive in a way that the organization could not bury him. It seemed like a real reconciliation and a big weight off him.

For two guys who would never talk to each other and only say nasty things about the other for two decades, this is an amazing photograph. Never say never.

Poor taste...? This is pro wrestling - no such thing. When Paul Bearer died last year (for real), the following night CM Punk smashed his urn to ignite a feud with Undertaker. Many people were offended - but not Bearer's family, who were delighted. It's the bizarre universe where kayfabe and reality collide. But seriously - in reality -- Warrior (Jim Hellwig) and Hogan (Terry Bollea) -- allegedly hated each other's guts. If you watch the youtube shoot interviews from a couple years ago where Warrior exposes Hogan and Linda's "perverted" sex life, poisoning might not seem so absurd!

I was in the capsule from a place long from here, and I came here for one reason: to attack and keep coming, not to ask, but just to give, not to want, but just to send, send the power of the Warrior down everybody's throat in the WWF until they become sick of it. Well you're gonna get sick of it, because this freak of nature right here is just beginning to swell, and when I get big enough brother, there ain't gonna be room for anybody else but me and all the warriors, floating thru the veins in the power of the Warrior.

Looking around the web, this is being reported worldwide on genuine media and news outlets, much like Randy Savage's passing was. Stuff and TV3 carried it here, and Hauraki (bless them!) have put together a video tribute for NZ's coverage. Wrestling websites are reporting tweets etc, and it's clear that Warrior buried a lot of hatchets over WM and Raw weekend, including with Vince (obviously that was done well before last weekend), Jake the Snake, Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan (there's a photo from WM weekend doing the rounds of Hogan, Warrior and Pat Patterson - Patterson laid out their epic WM6 match). Hogan has tweeted about Warrior's passing, and it was all positive (his Twitter handle is HulkHogan if anyone wants to look into them).
 
Also, Warrior had just signed a Legends deal, so his family will be financially set for a while, which is also great news given the awful news.

Well, I guess if it's fine for him to put the boot into other people once they've died, then I guess it's fine for people to do the same to him. What he said about Ledger was abhorrent, and I consider myself a Warrior fan.
