yeah I thought it was pretty blah until the last part, was wondering if they were ever gonna get around to it!
Last nights ep almost seemed like a time filler, even though there is a heap of stuff they could put in, but will leave out.

Good to see they gave a bit to Varys, and some may have missed or not realised the significance of the piece between him and Tyrion.

Still plenty of death to come of characters we know, will be disappointed to lose a couple of them.
I agree, I thought it was a pretty poor episode across the board ... even the final scenes weren't as good as I was expecting them to be.
The focus on the two most annoying aspects of the show was, um, annoying. The Theon/Reek and the crazy Snow bastard is just a show dead spot. Even the action in that scene was poor - not helped by the fact I'm watching S2 of Vikings and the action scenes are brilliant in that - and I really don't give a shit about either character. As for Stannis, I wish that Sir Davos would just stick a sword through him and take over his army and become a kind of pirate raiders type like Sir Francis Drake - that would liven that part of the story up to make the time spent worthwhile.

Maybe it's because we have a proliferation of courtroom dramas on Planet Earth but I found even those scenes to be pretty ho hum, although it was good to see Tyrion, and Tyrion and Jamie interacting. It only started getting good near the end and then it ended.
-

I just picked up Season 8 of 24 on DVD for $20. The wife and I now have 6 nights to watch it before Ep3 of this season. Too much last night alluded to the last season, and i was fucking lost.

Great stuff in Game of Thrones lastnight, the final show down between Tyrion and Tywin was epic

It was a good episode but once again they put in non book stuff. Not sure what the point was in putting the Theon rescue in. That was pretty shit. This focus on the iron bank suggests they'll play a bigger part in the books. -
Maybe Mr Martin has hinted to them at as yet unwritten plot lines and they are building toward them?

I think he's pretty involved in the series isn't he? He's written a few scripts etc. So he could be pointing them in the direction of the book he's writing that he's not going to complete because he's going to croak first ;).
-

That certainly doesn't apply to the Theon scene. Maybe it was just a reminder that the Iron Born are still around? -

Silicon Valley is my new favorite comedy on TV right now.

Sirens wasn't bad. It was a bit slow for me initially, but the horse porn episode was laugh out load hilarious, and it got better from there.

Silicon Valley is from Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill, Beavis & Butthead). First episode is set up, but after that the one character gets less annoying, and it starts to gel.
-

Not sure what you mean?

I was simply saying maybe Martin in discussions with the writers of the TV series indicated the Iron Born, including Reek/Theon will be quite prevalent in the next book, so they had thought they'd put a bit more about them in the series, regardless of the current book.

Given the next 2 books run concurrently, it will be interesting how they do them, especially with some more characters joining in.
-

I don't disagree for the most part. At least I hope the differences wont be huge. Its just that the Theon scene was far removed from anything that happened in the books and can't really be any indication of future events in the books. I'd elaborate but I'm farked if I know how to do that Spoilers thing. Have you read Dance of Dragons?

-

you can just type
blah blah blah [/sp0iler] but put an 'o' in instead of the '0'

Yeah I don't see the point of that scene either, was a bit of a waste and seemed like they were just filling in time until the trial, was just speculating!

Yea I have read and listened to unabridged versions (in combination) of them all.
-

Bearing in mind I'm someone who hasn't read the books (aside from 80% of Game of Thrones), wouldn't it be better to treat them as separate entities so that you wont keep making comparisons between the books and the TV show? Although if staying 100% true to the books meant no Theon/Reek and that other Snow then I'd be all for a faithful adaption.

Which is the one character that gets less annoying ... they were all pretty annoying to me. Except for the totty, but that's juts because she was better to look at than all the fellows. I'll watch another couple of episodes to see how it goes as we're entering a dead time for comedies.
-

not really a fan of The Flash, but will no doubt have a look at it...keenly awaiting Gotham though!
