Ben Smith had another good game on the right wing ...

BBBR's comments suggest he expects to play against Japan, and he does need a good hitout before the English test.

Saw most of it. Basic skills are still shit. Folau still goes from diamonds to fucking rocks every time he tries to pass the ball. People still say Foley isn't good enough, despite him being one of the few out the with anything that looks like commitment and composure. Latu is still a fucking idiot.

On the other hand, we only lost by 17.

        Shit AB team. 😉

I hope the folks in Yokohama can sort out the digital ads, the terrible playing surface, the empty seats and the flat atmosphere ahead of next year's World Cup.

Haven't read the thread yet, bit the match seemed to have a bit of the Baabaa's about it. But I'm glad for the win as it's usually the dead rubbers that do us in.

              @sparky

There were 46000 ppl there for a neutral game, and Japan played the day before (and is playing next week!)

Not bad IMO and the atmosphere was good around us - lots of polite interaction between punters.. The ozzies behind us were really realistic about how shit their team is....

@gt12 I make that over 30,000 empty seats. You won't see that number of empty seats for the international games coming up in Europe combined.

Not neutral teams - judge them on next week's game if that is your metric.

Is your concern that seats won't sell out of the world Cup? if so you're mad.

Wait, what? DMac getting the ball knocked out by a defender was more of an error in losing the game than Jordie throwing the ball to a Saffa to score a try?

Certainly not for England or Ireland but the Italy game is also in a huge stadium and won't sell out.
It's a bit unfair to judge on empty seats when the capacity is so big and it isn't a tier 1 country.

I might add that the capacity for that stadium is currently about 72,000 (I guess they will add more for the WC), so with 46,000 in, it was 26,000 short of capacity and about 2/3 full. Fantastic effort given that Japan is playing next week. I imagine that game will be a sell out or close (i.e., within 10% of capacity). If not, I'll happily buy you a beer next time you are here*.

*and to be honest, I'd buy you one anyway (because I'll take any ferners willing) to my favorite sake bar where I buy the beer and you buy the sake. Drink three and you are a winner.

We did what we needed to do. Showed some me good intensity at times but mixed in with some sloppy play.

Like the other tests against Aussie this year we looked excellent when out wide.

                                ALB & Goodhue

Crotty just offers nothing and SBW tried hard but sort of failed.

Change the midfield before we end up moving Ben Smith to centre on the evening the RWC.

@billy-tell I think the problem is the SBW - Crotty combo. Crotty - ALB or Crotty - Goodhue would work better IMO, but I'd also be keen to see the ALB - Goodhue combo in the next few games.

I won't be. They have no option at this stage but to keep him on. His assistants are hardly chasing him down and there are no decent candidates in the wings that the players are gunning for.
To sack him now would also be demoralising for the players IMO.

They actually played OK physically in this game but let themselves down with skill and decisions at the wrong moments.
If I was a Convict fan my biggest concerns would be that Krusty seems unable to get them to a level where they can play instinctively and the individual basic skills continue to let them down. (Operation Mick is working well as a replacement for Operation Dingo)

How many of those test matches will be dead rubbers between two neutral teams played in a Tier 2 nation? Think about it.

If this was a dress rehearsal for the World Cup knock outs, I'd give the Japanese hosts 6 out of 10. No doubt World Rugby will sort out the ticketing situation before next year. According to the NZ Herald a lot of tickets were given away for this game. It will be embarrassing if they have to repeat that stunt next year for RWC

To be honest, my main concern was the playing surface. Substandard for an international test.
